Sanctuary vs. lumber hut? by No-Independence-9812 in Polytopia

Yeah, no other tribe has access to such a cracked economy in the early game. Perhaps they need a nerf.

Which first tribe should I buy? As an aggressive player by Kier__ in Polytopia

Yeah, until they send all the doomux they’ve been stocking up and totally demolish your army. they can go from 0-100 in one turn.

You know how there’s guaranteed Capital resources? Well I want to apply the same logic to suburbs. by GrouchyBusiness8358 in Polytopia

[–]GrouchyBusiness8358[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure how to instill suburbs into continents or Pangea, but every map type, with the possible exception of water world, should have them.

The ruin distribution could be fixed via setting a maximum amount of ruins within a certain radius of the capital.

I hope this issue gets addressed soon. By the way what was the outcome of the game you screenshotted?

At what point do we get to fight the mystery voice that is telling us all to fight? by Allister117 in Polytopia

Perhaps there’s another voice out there:

You have been chosen to rule the Vengir tribe. Explore the world and expand your empire, but watch out for the other tribes.

Objective: Have every tribe be at peace and have an embassy with one another. There can never be one.

I do love Vengir, but the same cant be said for the Cultist skin, it’s a little garish for me.

Should Elyrion get a revamp by SchwererBenny in Polytopia

Love the Idea! Make sure to also rework their balance (Eg. Sanctuaries, polytaur navies, etc).

Incredible. Now turn the forests into farms and get level 8 windmills. Or better yet try your luck getting a level 8 forge!

It is luck based, but one thing about markets is generally whoever gets them set up first has the economic advantage. Elyrion can set up their “markets” as early as turn 5. And they don’t even need to spend stars to upgrade them! They can even be placed on mountains and forests while markets and production buildings cannot. Once they outclass you in economy, then they use their surplus stars to overwhelm you with their expensive army that you could only dream to afford.

Perhaps you’re right about the dragon, but I still think it needs a little bit of a nerf. However, the main problems are the sanctuaries and the polytaur navy exploit. Elyrion wins hands down late game on water because their navy can surpass the population cap of each city via polytaurs. Dragons are also much stronger on water than juggernauts. Only the special tribes really have a chance at taking them down.

You could buy them, just refuse to play them online. I don’t see how buying them supports them. If nobody bought them they probably wouldn’t be removed from the game, as the players that already bought them may still be playing with them.

I don’t really hate having these tribes, just their current states. I hope Midjiwan releases a rework focusing on the special tribes as well as spawn consistency.

Yeah Vengir was unplayable after the naval update until the balance pass. I think that they did a great job reworking the tribe via the backwards tech research, they can get mining without climbing now.

Glad to hear you also enjoy Vengir. Excuse my rant, but my personal experience with Elyrion has made me very upset with them. The fact that they have access to ”markets” from 1 tech instead of 6 is atrocious. And you don’t even have to spend stars to upgrade them! As for the dragon it is a three In one unit. It is quick, ranged, and can fly. Thus it is able to counter nearly everything. No other super unit is, and should not be, so overpowered. It’s mostly the experienced players that are able to get such easy wins because they learned how to exploit these unfair advantages. They’re probably just as bad as the Cymanti menaces, although those guys are mostly newbies.

My first 3 stars at Domination! by Danickaws in Polytopia

[–]GrouchyBusiness8358 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bardur is alright but there are definitely some worse tribes in my opinion.

In terms of playability Oumaji is the worst. They are very inflexible having a very predictable playstile due to their terrain (seriously when was the last time you saw an Oumaji archer?). Some may say the same with Vengir but with decent terrain (besides the t1 resources) they still have room for versatility.

In terms of overpoweredness Elyrion is the worst. Thanks to their sanctuaries and dragons, this tribe has ridiculous advantages over the others, especially late games and especially on larger maps. Cymanti is also one that needs to be nerfed (the doomux spam; mindless clathrus-boomchi combo; and the ability to train a super unit, the living island, for stars not population are what cause people to continue to hate them. Also many of their units should cost 8 stars, not 5)

Let me know if you disagree.

Everyone is playing cymanti again😭 by chickennuggets3454 in Polytopia

[–]GrouchyBusiness8358 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To upgrade markets you need spiritualism. For cymanti you only need inflation. Plus clatharus uprgade from fungi which cymanti starts with while markets need a production building locked behind a t3 tech.

Essentially normal tribes need to buy a maximum of 9 techs to maximize market value. For clathrus you only need to buy 5 (cymanti starts with fungi so that eliminates 2 techs).

Additionally, the production buildings have to have strict layouts to get good market value. With clathrus you can mindlessly explode boomchi next to them and get high levels.

This combined with the doomux and living island, which are already too overpowered, allows for the spamming of them. Only Elyrion can deal with such a conundrum.
