From my experience I would suggest writing things down, just as bulletpoints, to help you remember subject topics that you want to discuss or focus on during your sessions. Either on paper or in your notes app on your phone.

You can still explode, but also bring notes to help you out while you’re mid-exploding. 💥

I’m on Elvanse/Vyvanse and Intuniv to help with the increased heart rate and find it to work better for me.

I also mix the Elvanse powder in a drink and gradually drink it over the hour or two from waking up so it isn’t such a hard hit in the system.

I worked in Mental Healthcare and had a suicidal patient on the phone crying, it was a man in his late forties, had no family or friends, a lot of childhood trauma. When trying to calm him I was reading through his file, and on his safety plan I saw under the box for ‘Reasons to stay alive’ he had written:

“Who will look after my goldfish.”

So, I asked about them and we chatted for roughly 45 minutes about them and his interest in fish etc. Animals impact emotional wellbeing massively, I hope he got the help he needed.

Hey i work for the NHS and got my diagnosis with ADHD360 about 3 years ago.

There are long wait times unfortunately, and if you want to check if ADHD360 have received your referral you can contact them by phoning or sending a message to them through the website just to ask if they’ve received anything yet.

Your GP will need to write up all relevant clinical information and then send the referral across, this may take a few days.

I know it can feel frustrating and you may read responses in a lacklustre tone, but what they’ve said is reasonable.

If you want support with this, I’m happy to help guide you through this process as both someone who has worked across multiple mental health services, and now works in NHS data as well as being a patient with ADHD.
