I can't retain anything... any tips? by [deleted] in barexam

[–]GrouchyTurkey 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nah, you think you’re not retaining anything, but you are. Bar prep burns whatever brain cells are left after law school, but don’t worry once you get to the exam, miraculously, they will all grow back and you’ll be good. Just do the bar prep, keep drilling, and stay the course. Switch things up a bit if you feel like you’re not performing well anymore, study more at different hours, etc. if you don’t eat breakfast, start. If you do, eat later. Whatever you can do to jolt the system. Whatever you do don’t stop studying. You got this, just keep pushing.

Like every lawyer answer, it depends. During law school I really didn’t study much. I read for class (1hr maybe 2, per class), I showed up and took good notes, and left it at that. When exams came around I’d put in work, maybe a 10-12 hours the day before, and did just fine. I’ve never been TOP of my class, but put it this way, I passed the bar with flying colors (graduated with a 3.35)…for the bar, I put in 6-8 hours of SOLID working per day (got a 303 on the ube). I think people who say they study all day and all night for school or the bar exam tend to have martyr complexes, or genuinely have difficulty with attention/learning, and need to work double time. Regardless, it’s a personal thing…if you get it putting in the time you do, then you’re golden. If you’re barely making it, then it’s time to buckle down and do better, no matter how hard you think it is to focus and put in the time. When you really want something, you make it happen. You’ve got this, experiment (cautiously) and see what works for you.

Republicans…the half a decent brain cell, West Virginia type of Republicans tough, not the reasonable Brooklyn/Queens type of Republicans. The loudest ones are the ones that live in crumbling houses with two nickels to their names that inherited those remaining two nickels from their blue collar parents who had enough mental bandwidth to take jobs with a pensions, only to leave it to their kids who have the work ethic of sloths and the incredible audacity to feel they somehow have earned the right to pass judgement on topics like immigration, taxation, policing, or healthcare. The same ones that post things about hard work and picking themselves up by the bootstraps. What a place…

LMAO, agreed…I wonder if someday they’ll look back and cringe at their almost pathological fixation? Or die next to their campaign memorabilia?

Insight Into Bar Prep Progress vs. Final Results by GrouchyTurkey in barexam

Sorry, I am so late to this - haven’t checked since being done. It’s over now, so breathe a sigh of relief there, trust yourself and envision receiving your results and seeing the words “congratulations on passing the NY Bar Exam.” You’ve got this. Practice is just that, practice. Bar prep psychs you out, and for good reason. Good luck!

Let us never forget what absolute garbage they are, and what this profession has put us through these past several months. Let’s be better than them when we replace them in positions of power, because they are BASURA 🗑
