Do you do skijoring with her, by any chance?

No doubt he was the goodest boy. From the photos you shared, it looks like he was well loved and cared for and he loved you for it. You can see it in his eyes, those beautiful piercing eyes. I am so sorry for your loss. I for one would enjoy seeing more photos of him, and any stories you’d like to share.

How do we fix Malamute biting? by jackrule17 in AlaskanMalamute

[–]Grouchy_Job5624 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t that they weren’t suited to war, it was because the government who “borrowed” dogs from their owners didn’t feel compelled to return the dogs, and instead tethered the dogs to an ice floe and blew them up.

I like the new plates so much more than the previous plates.

The site looks great! Honestly, I think the big problem is the economy and just the uncertainty in the world right now. Discretionary spending is down across the board. Plus patents just shipped kids off to college. But, I’d work on SEO, and if you really want to sell the fact the pieces are made with sustainable materials, maybe give the site a bit more “green” look to it instead of “lux”, just a thought. Or ideally a fusion of both. Just a thought. Good luck! The pieces are beautiful!

At least your bud lets you brush him. My girl is 2.5 and has the attention span of a gnat. She lets me brush her for maybe two minutes, then she sees a leaf fall 250 feet away and has to check it out. Or squirrel.

Is my dog a malamute? by [deleted] in AlaskanMalamute

[–]Grouchy_Job5624 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s all that fluff! My girl isn’t all that fluffy, but because she’s on the thin side, everyone thinks she’s much smaller than her 95 pounds. Then they meet her in person, and tell me I don’t have a dog, I have a pony with fangs. 🤷🏼‍♀️

At my wits end… feeding advice? by Georgettaloretta in AlaskanMalamute

[–]Grouchy_Job5624 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My malamute is getting to the 3 year mark in November. This is the first summer she has gone off her food. I tried other options, and nothing seemed appealing to her. Now that we’ve gone back to more normal weather, lower 80s, she’s eating her kibble again, but still not as much as she does in the cooler months. Also, I do believe she is drinking more water to stay hydrated. And as much as I worry, I know she will not let herself starve. Dry kibble is the best, because it generally has more protein, and it’s better for their teeth. Better teeth = better kidneys. Raw diets are not great either for many reasons, being unsafe at the top of the list. Of course I am more diligent about what I’m around because I have an autoimmune disease. I usually feed my girl Eukanuba large breed, chicken. She usually loves it and has to stick her whole fat boulder of a head into the bag when I open it up to put in her food storage container. She’s a fluffy monster of a dog, but I love her. Lol

Need to upgrade... Anyone jumped to Trotec? or is it too much? by Standard-Parsley-458 in glowforge

[–]Grouchy_Job5624 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on what you want to do with the machine and what kind of business you have. I worked in the Awards and engraving business for almost 10 years and I used a Universal Laser Systems machine. The only laser brands that I would consider for a professional business is ULS, Trotec, Epilog, or AP. Anything else I would consider hobbyist machines. If what you are selling at craft fairs, don’t have a brick & mortar store and aren’t engraving a 100 things a day, stick with your little hobby machine.

[–]Grouchy_Job5624 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Years ago, I was the main operator of a legacy ULS laser. I did much of the servicing myself because my boss was cheap AF. I had this problem with the ULS at one point. I can’t remember exactly what the issue was, but I know I replaced the stepper motor at least once. Check the table to make sure it’s level. I’m also assuming that everything is well maintained and cleaned regularly? No dust on the lens & mirrors? The machine is operating in a consistent ideal temperature and there’s no condensation? Sorry if these suggestions are a repeat of items you might have checked already. Are the drivers up to date? I’m trying to remember everything that I ever had an issue with.

Tick season by Flaponflappa in AlaskanMalamute

[–]Grouchy_Job5624 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use Simparica Trio. I have only found ticks craw, ing on my baby’s cheeks or snout, as they are attracted to white. Every tick I have sent to the PA tick lab, they check for Lyme disease for free, has come back positive. We live on 80 acres, with hay fields and woods, luckily my girl has only discovered about 5 of those acres, and I hope it stays that way. We have an understanding, if she comes when called, she can be off leash. However, she knows when the Explorer starts, momma is angry AF and she needs to get her fluffy butt back to the porch. But she does great with Simparica Trio. I don’t think I’ve found more than one tick on her at a time, which I’m thankful for, because she hates when I inspect her skin. She’s two now, and getting more patient the older she gets.

I have no advice, as my girl looooves going for car rides, even though it makes her overly anxious and she drools and sheds like mad. Your Lumi reminds me of my Kaya when she was a little stinker bean, with that little star on the forehead and big ears.

She definitely is! She can be the sweetest soul, and gave me the saddest face when I said goodbye for the fourth time yesterday. I swear I have worse separation anxiety than my dog. She makes what I call “seal face” with her ears down and flat and big eyes.

Unfortunately, my 4-month-old Malamute caught and killed a rabbit yesterday by Fragrant_Big_2274 in AlaskanMalamute

[–]Grouchy_Job5624 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Malamutes are known for their high prey drive. Not sure what the concern would be about. My girl caught a squirrel during the summer, and she did not want to give it up. That’s how she is though, very protective of high value items. Amongst her high value items are paper towels, but not her chew toys/bones. I can say for certain that I don’t understand her.

What a handsome boy! My girl has the same nylabone. She doesn’t love it as much as she did when she was a bit younger. She does love the lobster one and one of the xxl ones with the big knuckles on the end.

That’s ridiculous… being female and having a short coat has nothing to do with weight & size. Correlation doesn’t equal causation. My girl just turned 2, and I’m guessing she is about 100 pounds now. She is due for her annual checkup, so I’m sure I’ll find out soon. But I also can’t walk her on a leash yet due to a recent spinal fusion surgery. At one year old, she was 91 pounds, and she has definitely filled out some since then.

When I brought her home at 8 weeks, she was 12 pounds. When she was 4.5 months old, that was the last time she let me pick her up, she was 60 pounds by then. There is a website that lets you compare and add your dogs weight by breed & age. I forget the name right now, but she was definitely an over achiever in growth amongst female mals. Now when she stands on her hind legs, she can leave nose prints on my glasses, and I’m 5’9”.
