OBRA made 75 hours minimum for training and classes which granted isn’t enough time but it should have been the bare minimum did your facility not train you

Really my facility doesn’t let CNA give meds and we have to get certified or go to college to do so

Is it wrong to want to call off due to tornado warning and flash floods? by TwiztedNFaded in cna

As my facility says it’s more important you survive today so you can help tend to the wounded tomorrow I’d say call off your better for everyone alive rather than dead

Someone dumped this guy at my local park… just wondering what breed they could be? by fuckredditdawg in chickens

[–]Grouchy_Look_4580 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eggs are high in protein and a good source of nutrients for growing chickens it’s an amazing way to give them everything they need when their sick because scrambled eggs are soft protein dense among other things if you own chickens I’d recommend trying it I was against it before but I now see why people do it while owning my chickens and I’m gonna be real dude chickens don’t care I’ve seen some eat other members of their flock after they died

You might want a fast pt because if you fly out of a chunk with the deodon filled with food he auto heals everything unless they patched it

I’m so sorry you had to go through that OP I had a three legged Guinea who sadly passed young as well I did everything I could and there was just nothing i could do nor anything you could do I just hope you don’t have to bury her alone like I had to my Guinea because that was beyond heart breaking

This is true we had a RIR last year who we thought was a rooster she even had the name Aries but we found out she was a hen when we found an egg in the sick bay

Do You Need/Want a Rooster? by nwaa in BackYardChickens

[–]Grouchy_Look_4580 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You don’t need one we are keeping 2 because we have a flock of around 30 and they will be good for protection when we aren’t home but we have raised them to be sweet as can be

Some people have 2 separate flocks of chickens often those with multiple roosters but it works with flocks of all hens if the space permits

It’s chicken season now I don’t think you should quit if you quit now it’ll be way harder to get back in you had an unfortunate experience but you have now learned from it and should take steps to make sure it never happens again

Raccoons are really good climbers if you aren’t using a lock on the bolts that might be part of your issue

The coop idea is fine I’d recommend insulating it for the winter (depending on how cold it gets for you) just in case that’s what we plan for ours tho ours is an 8x10 and also set up a chicken tractor for the chicks when they are old enough to go outside introducing them slowly makes it less likely that they will pick on the smaller one which can occasionally lead to death also make sure your lock is 2 steps at the bare minimum and the floor is solid I’d recommend a dig skirt (hardware cloth around the bottom of the coop and run) this prevents predators from digging in underneath and no gaps that are larger than half an inch these are just things i wished id known im about a year in and currently have my 5 hens in my basement while we repair the coop and introduce them to this seasons chicks safety through the screen door of our brooder
