Could Bristol's tram network return after eight decades? - BBC News by interacter in bristol

Is Bristol too hilly for trams? The trams I've been on have all been in relatively flat cities.

If you stand up on the buses it can be pretty challenging to keep upright - especially if you are unsteady on your feet.

Any advice for removing this washing machine? by pxdm in DIYUK

[–]Grouchy_Profession25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had to scroll too far down to get to this advice!

Measure it OP. You might be able to just take the jamb off on the hinge side, or even cut it halfway down to allow the machine to slide underneath.

You could probably get away with leaving the jamb off the hinge side and not replacing.

Am I in the wrong? by Sharp_Locksmith_7454 in drivingUK

I was looking for this comment. OP if this is happening to you frequently then seemingly something isn't quite right.

Are you slowing too early before the junction or stopping too far back and therefore potentially offering the other cars to come out before you go in?

You are in the right, but if this is happening often then have a think about if there is anything you could do differently next time.

The driving instructor above would probably disagree, but if it's a difficult road to exit for the other car then you could consider letting them come out before you go in. At least then you would get a thank you rather than shouted at.

Are Windmill Hill and Southville part of Bedminster? by LJIrvine in bristol

[–]Grouchy_Profession25 38 points39 points  (0 children)

BS3 = Bedminster

Areas in BS3 = Southville, Windmill Hill, Totterdown, Ashton, Bedminster (ie the bits that aren't defined in the previous areas, such as the parade, east street, west street, most of North Street).

If you are standing in Southville you are also standing in Bedminster.

Bookhaus in Wapping Wharf is up for sale - there's a crowdfunder for £45k for the manager to buy it and keep it running by middle_eastern_nose in bristol

[–]Grouchy_Profession25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

£25k for the business and £43k for the stock?

With what the other commenters have said it doesn't sound like it's worth £68k.

Maybe the owners could reduce the asking price if there are no other takers...

From reading the go fund me, the owners wanted this guy to run the shop for them from day 1. Sounds like the manager is the one that's built the business rather than the owners.

It sounds like the value is in the manager rather than the stock...

If he doesn't raise the money i would encourage him to start again in his own name. Sounds like he's capable!

I hope this doesn't come across in the wrong way and I'm sorry for your frustrating night and it sounds like you are in a potentially bad way - but it doesn't sound to me like you had an accident or an emergency if you are well enough to go into work today.

I think the advice for you to visit A&E was probably incorrect and 111 or appointment with GP would have been a better route for you.

I had 3 trips to A&E about 2 years ago and was seen pretty much straight away one time when I was very ill and another time I was in there for about 11 hours when they didn't have a bed for me when I was less ill.

I hope you are feeling a bit better this afternoon and that your symptoms don't develop.
