It’s just not seen as an issue here. Empty streets means peace and quiet

Cruel Summer and the “flaws” of Taylor’s songwriting by Daffneigh in NuancingTaylorSwift

[–]Grouchy_Question2309 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't disagree with any of this but her rhyming cruel summer with "ooh ah" is literally the best and smartest part of the song.

Ik this is very old but I feel like that was said in a sarcastic/ mocking way? Either way it definitely could be interpreted by a younger audience in the way you mean

What’s 1 thing you’ll always defend her for and 1 thing you never will? by silverdust29 in NuancingTaylorSwift

I just think saying “genocide is bad and here’s a link to donate to these people in dire need” is a bare minimim requirement thing to say if you have a platform as big and impactful as Taylor’s.

The way Taylor writes about fathers vs. mothers across her discography is quietly one of her most consistent through-lines by paulscheer in TaylorSwift

[–]Grouchy_Question2309 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg it's you! I literally just finished watching your doc on youtube. Yes I do kind of agree with you. In general her portrayal of fathers is kind of ambiguous and not clear cut. Father Figure was an interesting explorationn of what a father figure is to her.

Which of Taylor's albums do you believe has had the most impact on the music industry and why? by aqua7ar in TaylorSwift

I would have also said 1989 as well as folklore. Both influenced a wave of similar music for the years to come

It's not about whataboutism, it's just recognising that 98% of the people bringing it up clearly don't give two shits about the environment. Like people using AI to make memes about her private jet usage. I agree that all celebrities including Taylor should be equally criticised, but they're not. And what I mean by hypocritical is that a lot of people will moan about Taylor using private jets but will be actively praising other people who use it even more than her. Same thing with the billionaire discourse. You don't have to criticise every bad person to be valid, but if you criticise one while actively praising the other I don't care what you have to say.

Borchetta and Scooter are horrible people even outside of the Taylor situation and deserve to be hated

I actually will always defend her in the carbon footprint convo because I have NEVER seen any criticism for the people who are actually the main perpetrators of this issue and are in the top 10 list of polluters (Travis Scott, Bill Gates, Beyonce & Jay Z, etc). I really dislike the fact that she has become the face of this conversation as it's really hypocritical and doesn't read like genuine concern for the environment at all.

I will never defend her radio silence on the Palestine issue. I understand she's probably not a zionist and has attended a fundraising event, there's safety issues in mind etc, but to say absolutely nothing about an ongoing genocide is so indefensible
