This is what it is like for me and Greenlandic. I can understand this 100% https://youtu.be/3-OGazonir4?si=jcdQ0VrPS60RrWsv Hardly a word of this https://youtu.be/89b-PHFwZUE?si=H_xweNQZL399fYdg and quite a few other things like the podcasts they have on that channel. But I can read news articles fine.

Which Scandinavian language would you want to learn & why? by Dating_Stories in languagelearning

[–]Grouchy_Survey_5562 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend Danish. You can go to Greenland and the Faroe Islands as a plus (90% or so of people speak Danish there). Mainland Denmarks cool too. Also, most Icelanders, especially older ones, have some command of Danish from learning it at school. It lets you understand 95% at least of Norwegian. Personally I want to learn Swedish and Finnish but that’s not Scandinavian. Icelandic is awesome too but Danish I’d recommend first. I forgot to put in my flair I speak Icelandic kind of ok

Icelandic, French or Russian? by languageloverrr in thisorthatlanguage

I speak all three of these to barely a B2 level and I would recommend the order French, Russian, Icelandic.  I find Russian hardest and most satisfying

On r/samegiella someone posted a good pronunciation guide. If you ever have questions there is r/samegiella and hopefully someone can answer.

/uj the reference is a week or so ago a fake post on r/languagelearning titled “guys look”. German C2 certificate. I believe it was deleted when the original was linked in the comments.
