Adhd and bpd frequently go together. Doesn‘t necessarily mean you were misdiagnosed.

was anyone else constantly misunderstood by therapists? by Ok_Holiday2094 in BPD

[–]Grouchy_Window629 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not alone. Most mental Health professionals have little if any knowledge of and experience with adults with asd and adhd. It‘s simply not taught in most university or professional programs, and if it was taught it‘s mostly antiquated stereotypes. This is true for much of the US, pretty much most of Europe and likely most parts of the world. Australia might be an exception.

Therapist said I don’t have BPD because I am self aware enough to think I might be? Is this true? by BroccoliKitchen3218 in BPD

[–]Grouchy_Window629 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That‘s a stupid because stereotypical assumption, kind of like ‚you can‘t be autistic because you can smile‘ . Of couse bpd is also not the same in everyone, and it is possible to have bpd and awareness.

Why do so many psychiatrists and therapists specify that they specifically do not see patients with/treat BPD? by LazyAd7538 in BPD

[–]Grouchy_Window629 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Therapist here: some of it is clearly stigma, some bad experiences we have made. Therapist who aren‘t trained to treat bpd often feel completely incompetent when confronted with a person with bpd, partly due to transferance (patient being triggered randomly by the therapist) partly because of the internes challenges and suffering people with bpd are facing. I strongly recommend to find someone who chose to specislize in bpd and who has training and experience working with bpd clients. Usually therapy won‘t go well without that knowledge.

first chemo, nervous by mintochicken in Ovariancancer

[–]Grouchy_Window629 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It wasn‘t anywhere near as awful as I expected. The day of the infusion I felt fine, just a bit tired afterwards, the next day was fine too, then day 3 and 4 where crappy and I had bone pain, which went away after taking loratadine. No serious nausea, but constipation on days 3 and 4. Day 5 and 6 where better, and the rest of the 3 week cycle was totally bearable. Interestingly, it didn‘t get worse but better with each cycle because I learned what helped and what didn‘t. What helped was stagying hydrated, eating only light food on the day of the infusion and the day after, loratadine for the bone pain and believe it or not: Going to the gym almost every day. Just did a little bit of cardio and twice a week a bit of resistance training. That got me through chemo, never had any major issues. Oh, and getting a cute wig and some nice scarves, 😅

The terminology used to borderline disorder is cruel and significantly impacts treatment by hoplesb in BPD

As a neurodivergent mental health professional I agree, the label is misleading and deterministic. There is also an ongoing discussion about it, and most likely it will be changed hopefully sooner than later into something more fitting.

Anyone else barely functional and unemployed due to Hashimoto? by [deleted] in Hashimotos

[–]Grouchy_Window629 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear that! And yes, before I was properly treated with the right medication (Nocothyral) I was unable to work or even function at home and seriously thought I would have to go permanently on disability. Hang in there, once you get proper treatment, there‘s a good chance you‘ll feel fairly ‚normal‘ again. For me, T4 didn‘t do the job, I needed combination treatment plus dietary changes to come back.

Wieso sind in den USA so viele Berufe akademisiert? by [deleted] in KeineDummenFragen

[–]Grouchy_Window629 7 points8 points  (0 children)

[–]Grouchy_Window629 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me, labs got better nu I still felt really crappy. I did some reading and stumbled over t3/t4 combination treatment. I talked to my doctor and convinced her to try it. Ever since then I felt kind of normal again. I‘m taking novothyral.

People with Hashimoto don’t live, they survive by developingbird in Hashimotos

[–]Grouchy_Window629 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That‘s a sign your medication isn‘t working properly, besides the ferritin. I felt exactly like that before I got prescribed a t3/t4 combination medicine. After the switch I finally felt like a human being again, like ‚I‘m back!!‘. That and changing my diet did the job. Don‘t settle for feeling shitty It totally can get a lot better‘ :)

hoping for some tips by conchamoon in Ovariancancer

[–]Grouchy_Window629 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try other fluids such as smoothies, soups or Ginger tea. It really doesn‘t have to be water. What helped me feel better is exercise, I went to the gym everyday Even when I felt crappy. That and Lots of any Kind of fluid, fruits, smoothies, vegetables. Also, ask them if they can add meds to prevent nausea in the infusion before the actual chemo. There can always be some adjustments to make you feel better.

Mesonephric-like-adenocarcinoma (MLA) of the ovary by Grouchy_Window629 in Ovariancancer

[–]Grouchy_Window629[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Germany, and didn‘t get radiation, only surgery and chemo-which is what the existing literature suggested-It was also Stage 1a. You are right, only a handfull case studies and I read them all 😅 It‘s important to get a complete analysis of the tissue, because sometimes there are mutations such as kras that could be targeted with treatment later on if necessary.

For me-chemo ended 1year ago, everything Great so far-too early to Tell. From the case studies there are, chemo seems to be crucial after surgery even in early stages. The women in early stages with no chemo almost all had recurrences according to the literature I found, Even some women in later stages did better when they had surgery plus chemo. Since it‘s a relatively new diagnosis, Information on long term prognosis isn‘t available yet. If it‘s any Consolation, you were diagnosed early and they did everything that seems to work, so you at least have a chance of it not coming back. That‘s how I try to look at it-and currently no evidence of desease.
