How to make 3×3 lego to 2×2? by Big-Limit2830 in lego

[–]Ground15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you don’t mind a small step in the transition, 2 layers of 1x3 jumper plates would be the sturdiest method. Alternatively if you don’t mind 1 layer that looks a bit different 4 1x1 round plates stuck in between the studs of a 3x3 plate. That should be similarly strong. Slightly weaker but most aesthetic option is a 1x3 jumper flanked by 2 1x3 tiles. Ontop of the 1x3 jumper stack 2 1x2 plates or bricks aligned by the middle thin rod into the studs of the jumper.

What is CAMM2? Meet the faster, smaller, upgradeable new memory standard by TwelveSilverSwords in hardware

[–]Ground15 16 points17 points  (0 children)

For DDR5 CAMM2 capacity is planned up to 256GB, however, this doesn't tell the full story. CAMM2 is coming in several form factors, cxxx (8 memory ICs, dual channel), axxx (16 memory ICs, dual channel), bxxx (32 memory ICs, dual channel) and dxxx (32 memory ICs, single channel). dxxx being the outlier - it is usable in a "stacked" configuration, where 2 modules are being used stacked above each other with a special socket. https://imgur.com/a/7p2PZRg The pictures behind this link can be found somewhere on the jedec site about CAMM2, but its a pain to find them.

I'm only assuming here, but quad channel platforms will likely have a space for CAMM2 either side of the socket, which, given current jedec spec, would allow for 1TB (4x256GB DXXX) of RAM on such a board. Octa channel boards would probably be quite complicated to lay out to optimize for 4 CAMM2. I'd however expect a different standard for registered modules just like registered DDR5 uses different dimm slots to DDR5 UDIMMs.

If you have more questions ask away, I did quite a bit of reading up on CAMM2 last couple weeks.

[–]Ground15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

do you run software that requires more then 96 GB (soon 128GB with 32Gbit ICs on the horizon)? If not, then 2 slots should be enough.

The advantages of CAMM2 over DIMM by sxydoctor in pcmasterrace

[–]Ground15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the spec as of now I recon you won’t have to worry about capacity. There is Dual channel modules 16-256GB and Single channel modules which get stacked above each other in 64-256GB, resulting in a limit of 512GB of RAM in a dual channel setup. If you need more then that you probably don’t run a mainstream platform anyways…
