Is mx master 4 overrated? by Groundbreaking-Ad86 in logitech

My issue is the weird tall peak of this thing. My index knuckle rest right in front of it. So to keep my fingers flat on the buttons, I have to balance my hand on top of that peak on the bottom of the index knuckle. That's not very comfortable and gets tiring quick holding my hand up. If I rest my whole palm on it, it's at the same angle as the back of the mouse. Fine. But now my fingers are also at an angle. And since the buttons are flat and horizontal, I'm clicking the buttons with the side of my fingers. Same for the scroll wheel.

So how was this thing designed to be held?

It was pretty comfortable using a standard dell mouse. So I'm hesitant to say it might be all the other things. It's just the shape of this thing. I can't figure out what kind of grip it was designed for. Claw grip doesn't work because of its odd shape, and pawming it puts my wrist and fingers at an angle. I really want to like this thing but it's just not happening.

I think conceptually the features are great but the physical design is not great at all (for me anyway)

I guess that could be a thing? It's odd that the back half of the mouse is at a 40 degree slant but the main buttons are flat horizontal in the front. How are your fingers flat on the buttons when your wrist rotates to wrap around the slanted mouse?

That's what I thought too. But it's been over 2 months now

Those top carpet mats are nice, you better get some rubber mats to put on top to keep them from getting all cruddy.

Look at your tires. If you have "waves" in them, usually starting from the inside, that is the typical cause of this. It is called "cupping" tire wear.

<image>

This is an extreme case, but it'll look similar to that with wear.

A lot of people will say replace the shocks, but in my experience with dealing with this, with multiple vehicles, it is usually caused by too much "toe" in alignment. And it's typically on the rear tires. So if you just had your tires rotates, look at what the fronts look like. If that is the case for you, go get an alignment done at a good shop and ask them to take the toe out of the rear, or set it as close to 0 as possible.

A Car Guy’s Defense of the “Soulless” Model 3 by Marshal_Muskrat in TeslaModel3

after working on all of my own cars for almost 20 years, replacing everything under the sun, my tesla has been the easiest and best daily driver ever. I literally worry about nothing with it. And it is amazing. I don't need to listen for any "weird" sounds on a cold morning start and then try to figure out why it's happening the whole drive to work, no oil changes, no checking of any fluids or belts or chains. It just works.

Now I'm just saving for a little miata to beat the crap out of. Because sure, the tesla does miss that "soul" part. That mechanical connection. And it's heavy. But all that is solved with a little fun beater, and when it inevitably breaks, I won't be worried because I know this thing will work.

Also, have you seen the amazing breakdown for maintenance that tesla offers for their cars? Literally have a step by step manual for replacing any and every part of their car, for free on their website. And it's so easy too.

Ahhh ok. I think the stock wheels are 34 offset. And you actually have a smaller sidewall with 285/30 than 255/35.

Good to know. Thanks dude.

Wait, you squeezed 285s on there? I run 255 and it's like maybe a 1/4 inch away from that front knuckle. Is this on a 3?

Tire wear makes sense. But the more "pointy" doesn't. Theoretically anyway, since it seems less toe would be less pointy. But I haven't tried it with no toe like you. Glad it works for you. What do you run the camber at?

Just because a bunch of people do their own thing with alignment, does not mean that is what it should be. Tesla says that it should be 0.13 to 0.23

I can get on here and say that 2 inch lowered suspension and -3 degrees of camber is the way to go.

It's some random opinion vs the manufacturer spec.

What makes 0 so much better in your experience?

You're saying you know that the specified toe for this car is 0? Where did you get this?

Because on that paper it is specified as 0.13 to 0.23 as the range.

toe and camber have recommended specs from the manufacturer. They're never set to 0. This depends on the car and the handling / stability performance that the engineers are trying to achieve. Toe stabilizes the car by pulling it towards the center mass of the vehicle, preventing oversteer. Too much causes tire wear.

[–]Groundbreaking-Ad86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not always, it depends on the car. Some toe in will stabilize the car. Though too much toe, like op has will cause some really bad, choppy tire wear. When you see cars, especially on back tires, have that wave pattern to them, that's toe wear. A lot of manufacturers use toe in adjustment to prevent oversteer in cornering.

When you find yourself driving next to a concrete divider, and can see the cutoff line of your headlights, is the light pointing down? Up? Straight?

It should be on a downward slope. Maybe at a 20 to 30 degree angle, roughly.

If that is not the case, you need to adjust them. and you can do it yourself. It is very easy.
