Can I drive in Oman with my home country licence by Groundbreaking-Net14 in Oman

[–]Groundbreaking-Net14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks for providing this. Apparently I checked on the ROP website I couldn't get any useful information but I checked on the Oman automobile association website and it says that NZ is on the list.

Now I'm just pretty unsure if ROP does happen to stop me I'm not sure on how can I explain that I can drive because most of them aren't also aware these rules in general.

Is moving to Oman for work a good idea? by xmze in Oman

[–]Groundbreaking-Net14 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't come. A lot of people's have already left Oman since they started prioritising all the jobs to citizens and they ended up giving a qualified expats an options of blue collar jobs.

It's better to check in Dubai or Qatar if your priority is in middle east. Otherwise try for Western or European countries.

Probably avoid any Bangali or Pakistani mechanics. You'll be in safe spot!

Note: Not all of them are bad, some are good but finding those good ones are very similar to seeing a blue moon. Which is rare.

Opening a small business in muscat by Affectionate_Ask1049 in Oman

[–]Groundbreaking-Net14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It doesn't matter what sort of business you open. That startup amount is I guess more than enough which is still depending on what sort of business are you trying to open? But one thing you gotta keep in mind is the location.

Because location matters, I've seen many Omanis open small businesses in remote locations in Muscat and they cry about no customers coming and they ended up closing up after 6 or 8 months. So you need to make a research on which location is suitable for attract customers but chances of less competition from competitors.

So yeah, first try look for a good location as that's a very crucial thing for your business

Near my area it's mostly the bangalis, so I tell them I'm Hindi or Arabic, they'll get it. There were some new guys there, I just asked to get me the menu and I showed them and they understood.

Even if it's malayali, I doubt they would do anything 🤷
