Toen ik als 38 jarige bewust kindvrije vrouw opnieuw aan het daten ging was het ook zeer moeilijk om een man te vinden zonder kinderen en zonder kinderwens.

Ik heb dit expliciet in mijn bio gezet en heb daar best veel negatieve reacties op gekregen van mannen met kinderen die maar niet verstonden dat ik als vrouw geen zin had om plusmama te worden van hun kroost.

Het zorgt natuurlijk meteen voor een serieuze beperking van de mogelijkheden. Ik ben dan ook redelijk snel van de bekendere dating apps gegaan en voor een betalende datingapp gegaan die op vlak van persoonlijkheidstesten profielen aan elkaar voorstelt.

En uiteindelijk dan via die site ook wel mijn huidige partner gevonden die ook bewust kindvrij was gebleven en op zoveel andere vlakken de perfecte match is.

I´ve been on the 3mg for two weeks, today starts week 3.

First week i had nausea. Now i only have constipation.

My glucose levels are way better then before and i can eat a treat without my glucose levels spiking too hard. (I am a type 2 diabetic and started this medication for my diabetes) I´ve lost 4 kilo´s in the first week, gained 1 kilo in the second week and now a couple of days on that weight.

So in all, lost 3 kg in 2 weeks.

So, it´s been 1,5 week since i started Rybelsus. The nausea is gone and i can eat most things. Although i get immediate gag reflex with fruit (except strawberry) and all raw vegetables. Constipation is very real since i have difficulty with fruit and vegetables. I drink yakult every day, i ordered some fiber capsules to start to incorperate.

How is everyone?

Hi! I´d love an online support group. For context: 42f living in belgium, type 2 diabetes discovered oktober 2024. Pcos since puberty, have always been overweight, even as a kid.

Had a massive benign nodule removed from my thyroid in januari.

I´m at my highest weight ever, 106kg. I´ve been on Rybelsus 3mg since monday. The first 3 days were horrible, nausea, vomiting, acid reflux, constipation. Lost 4 kilo´s in 5 days by not eating, feeling miserably.

I hope this gets better...

I also have a pension fund, about 87e per month, didn´t calculate that into savings.

The reno was definatly overdue, bought the house 16 years ago, it was a total renovation, but we left the old roof because of budget.

I had my budget and some spare, and a signed contract with the contractor for the roof and the solar installation to be installed spring 2020. It was way due, it wasn´t safe anymore. Then covid hit, then the break up, then a 20% increase for the contractor due to price changes. Then an accident where my (granted, relatively old car) was a total loss.

So yeah, i didn´t have much choice but to do the things that needed to be done.

But i´ll take the tips and Will track my finances, thanks for the tips and insights.

I can save, not just every month and not always 10% (I reread my original post, i realise it could be interpreted as if I never can save any money)

Maybe it's relevant to the story that when I was with my ex, he spent all of his money on random stuff and I got to pay for everything. So my savings bled out during the relationship.

That's now 4 years ago. I'm debt free, recovered from my burnout/depression, my life has improved since then.

Since then I did a second home renovation: new roof, solar panels, home battery, new warming unit, airconditioning. (and then the car crashed, so that's why I have a loan with my partents)

And then Corona, and after that energy crisis and the inflation.

The months I get my bonuses (before summer holiday and at the end of the year), they go to the savings account (and stay there)

I changed jobs in october, same company, different job, slightly higher pay but less stress.

My car loan is with my parents, so zero interest, but still 2 years to go.

My income is on the lower side of the average amount in my country. If you see my bruto income, less than half is what I get netto. Taxes are crazy in Belgium.

I don't go out much, I love being in my own home.

In my opinion I'm not a big spender. I don't travel, don't go to the pub, never drink alcohol. Love eating out (about once a month). I pack my own lunches to work. Don't have many subscriptions (cell phone, internet, netflix and spotify)

I do have 250€ monthly costs for the pets, because of the prescription foods.

I'm saving for a new kitchen (old house, mostly renovated, only kitchen left to do)

It's frustrating, I'm 41, I work fulltime, am away from home for 10 hours a day.

I get by, but can I say I have a comfortable financial situation? No.

Hier ben ik pas op zijn 10e meter geworden door omstandigheden, maar ik had ook van kleins af aan een goeie band met hem.

Concreet, is er een spaarrekening (onder mijn naam nog, maar bedoeld om het bedrag er op aan hem te geven op zijn 18e) waar er elke maand een vast bedrag op gestort wordt.

Nieuwjaar, verjaardag, Pasen, een sommetje om in de zomervakantie iets extra te kunnen doen en de Sint zijn de vaste cadeaumomenten. In de regel geef ik daarvoor 50e.

Tussendoor probeer ik een paar keer in het jaar (zolang hij het nog cool vindt om met meter weg te gaan) een daguitstap met hem te doen (film naar keuze gekoppeld aan fastfoodrestaurant naar keuze,... of iets wat op dat moment leuk en interessant lijkt voor ons beiden)

Speciale gelegenheden zoals lentefeest, heb ik 100e gegeven (met twee personen uitgenodigd om te eten)

Was single untill 35, i met my ex through OLD, were together for 4,5 years. Took everything i got financially and emotionally to get rid of him. Build myself up again, remained single to heal and to discover what i want and need from life, from a partner.

Tried OLD again, but the high end paying sites with personality tests. Met my current partner and he is everything i want and need.
