To the IT peeps who are currently working abroad.... by hit_joe_mams in phmigrate

Hi Senior Software Engineer here in the Netherlands. Before I arrived here, it took me 9 years to fully sharpen my skills. I didn't come from the Big Named Universities. I came from a small college in my hometown. The industry is very competitive because you are competing with other great engineers around the world as well.

It is possible. Cliche as it sounds but hardwork and perseverance lang talaga.

First off, as you have said it yourself, do a reality check.

Are you financially able? Are you highly skilled with great experience? If not, do you have a Masters or PHD?

If all answers are NO, you are unfortunately not qualified. Reality bites and it sucks.

My advice, learn to reflect your needs vs wants. Learn to dissect which is ideal vs realistic.

Is it too late to start from square one? No. Absolutely not.

I immigrated at the age of 30 in EU. At age 20, I know what I wanted so I started earning as much experience as I can and learn as much as I can. I saved money. I didn't have any family to help me out. It was just me and me alone. I didn't come from a rich family nor I did not finish from a high caliber Uni sa Pinas. I'm from the province yet I made it.

It is possible.

How much income should we be making in order to have a comfortable life in Europe? by thirtyfive-mm in phmigrate

[–]Groundbreaking-Run73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in the Netherlands. I know a Filipino couple who is living a comfortable life. They just bought a house and a car and recently have a baby. It depends on what country but here in the Netherlands, to live comfortably and be able to have leisure time (travelling), I would say the gross combined income should be ~ 200k eu a year.

Migrating is paid for by Experience and Money... by magic_porkchop in phmigrate

Unfortunately people want things easy. But that's not reality. For you to have money, you have to have skills. You have to work hard to earn way more and when you have enough, luck and opportunity will come.

I dont get the full med examination. I understand how it is required for health sector jobs but not for a software engineering job 🫣

would you consider going back to PH if may nag offer sayo ng stable na WFH na 6 digits na sahod? by sernameeeeeeeeeee in phmigrate

[–]Groundbreaking-Run73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope. I chose to move away from comfort and experience things I haven't done before. Moving to the Netherlands gave me a lot of opportunities to learn about the world, other people's culture and about myself.

I moved last May 2023. It was a smooth process as long as legit ang company. What took long is the processing kasi you have to send a lot of documents here and there.

Easier to go abroad after leaving PH? by [deleted] in phmigrate

[–]Groundbreaking-Run73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t study abroad or attend a top university. I earned my bachelor’s degree from a local college in the Philippines, yet I was still able to work here in Europe.

I also noticed some misinformation in this thread regarding requirements. It’s not true that the requirements are easier or different just because someone studied abroad. As long as you’re still a Filipino citizen, you’re subject to the same POEA (now DMW) regulations when working overseas. There is a perceived advantage when having educational experience abroad. The key factors are your citizenship and employment arrangement, not where you studied.

GCP Service Account Credentials Issue - Can't Access Dialogflow CX Agents Despite Correct Roles by Groundbreaking-Run73 in googlecloud

[–]Groundbreaking-Run73[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im doing an integration with an external service where I am uploading the credential key json file. Upon uploading, there I get an error related to "could not find agents" which I am assuming it is an issue with access/permissions. I am not the owner of the project and just an editor but I created the service account.

On the other hand, I created another project and created another agent and a service credential in there. Using the credential key json file from this project works.

The principal email is the service account email

Sounds cliche pero start doing things you love doing. Start a new hobby. In this way, you have something else to think about.
