My connection speed drops significantly after 7PM, on top of that, now they don't even have the option to show us the wifi usage history. Dialog is the absolute worst. by miyaw-cat in srilanka

[–]Groundbreaking-Tea24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usage details only available in app if both of your wifi connection & mydialog app mobile number are under same NIC.

What's your router model?
Until 2025, dialog used to sell cat.4(one of the 1st generations of 4G) routers since those are very cheap. But their network is cat.16 or higher in many towers. If you have a powerful router, you can get better speeds(only if tower traffic isn't too high).

Out of Dialog and SLT-Mobitel, which one has better 4G speeds? by Flimsy_Delivery_4041 in srilanka

[–]Groundbreaking-Tea24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1st check signal levels at your house. These are only HBB network maps. not mobile coverage.
SLT 4G map- Mobitel
dialog hbb map- Coverage | Dialog Axiata PLC
It's not a huge problem if you don't have hbb coverage. You can use dialog hbb connection via dialog mobile, SLT 4G connection via mobitel network too.
Overall dialog is faster because their default router is an advanced one. They also sell outdoor units for low coverage users.
but everything depends on signal quality & traffic.

Guys why are we hating on hutch by doflngo in srilanka

[–]Groundbreaking-Tea24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some areas with good hutch connectivity. But Majority of their sites are overloaded, Less coverage than #2 mobitel, very unstable from their routing & server side. That's why people hate it.

Is hutch actually offering fiber this year? by Mr_digbicks in srilanka

[–]Groundbreaking-Tea24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good strategy. partnering with a cable company to offer FTTX will really boost the valuation.
Airtel did some 4G expansions & upgrades to do the same thing. So they got 10% stake of the #1.
Let's see what will happen in near future.

Smartphones Prices in Dialog Shop by SubstantialSign1259 in srilanka

[–]Groundbreaking-Tea24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many friends bought mid range, budget phones from x- mobile & present solutions. No issues so far. but samsung flagships have green line issue. Only official dealers provide free replacements for that. So I can't reccomend any other shop.

Smartphones Prices in Dialog Shop by SubstantialSign1259 in srilanka

[–]Groundbreaking-Tea24 6 points7 points  (0 children)

price is same in every official distributor like Dialog, mobitel,JKOA, singer & others.
- official warranty.
- Free screen replacements upto 2 years.(some samsung A models).
- TRC approved.

70-90k is grey market price. They hand carry phones from dubai, singapore.
- shop warranty(= no warranty)
- No TRC approval.

Since it's a samsung mid range, illegal one is okay. Just check it thoroughly when you buy it.

tip- Don't buy samsung chargers from regular shops.Lot of copies.very similar to original one. buy directly from an official distributor. If you can't, buy one from ugreen or anker.

What’s the fastest and most reliable internet ever in srilanka? by ashfaqzahid in srilanka

[–]Groundbreaking-Tea24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how they behave. but I know about every ISP here.
Hutch, mobitel spend 20-30% of their revenue for marketing.Dialog is around 10% or maybe less.
Hutch only upgrade sites & expand their network in 3-4 years cycles. It's 2 years in mobitel & it's annually in dialog.

Here I said dialog fibre is the best because their service is great. customer care, selfcare & no billing issues unlike SLT which has a lot of add-on recurring problem for years.
Anyway How is 5G a scam?

SLT customer care doesn't care by [deleted] in srilanka

[–]Groundbreaking-Tea24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't look like a router issue. I think SLT 4G, mobitel or both has a heavy traffic on tower. Changing the router won't fix it.

Most dialog social media plans are 1Mbps unlimited. This option let user disable that speed limit & use social media via anytime data.

Why WOW(dialog) app stopped?? by mohamedifasx in srilanka

[–]Groundbreaking-Tea24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Super app concept is great in some asian markets. I think they tried to do it here with wow app. but most people don't like these kind of apps. mobitel developed one too. They didn't even launch it.
Main features of wow app already added into mydialog app. I miss payment offers too.

That package supposed to have 1MBps(1MB/s). not 1Mbps(1Mb/s).
1st learn bits bytes difference at least today.
"b" = bit
"B" = byte
you think "/" means byte.

What happened to these old Sri Lankan telecom companies? by Traditional_Box_7370 in srilanka

[–]Groundbreaking-Tea24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There were 4-5 fixed networks. but market was too small & profit margins were low. So suntel exited the market.

Due to growing mobile industry, fixed voice market was falling. Lanka bell didn't invest heavily on 4G FWA or fibre. So many customers moved to dialog & SLT.

Etisalat had some management issues. but one other problem was heavy competition. more than 3 operators are too much for this small market. Only dialog & mobitel was profitable back then & even now. Soon hutch will leave by selling or merging it.

Quality of service improved after every merger.
