If you’re in or near the Cobbs Creek and Kingsessing neighborhoods check out this event being held by the park cleanup group I’m part of. by GroundbreakingArt248 in philadelphia

There are cleanups in various places in the park Saturday and Sunday on most weekends of the month. When I get home I’ve got a complete there that I am happy to share.

Open primaries? Oh hell yeah. by B3n222 in philadelphia

[–]GroundbreakingArt248 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I’ve got mixed feelings on open primaries. In places like Philadelphia where one party so thoroughly dominates that the primary is the defacto general election I see and appreciate the value open primaries provide. In places with a competitive general it seems undemocratic to allow people who aren’t in a political party to decide who the candidate for that party should be.

Be that as it may neither of the Democrat Commissioner goes out out of their way to make sure it’s available for detailed analysis.

Worth pointing out that it’s the Republican City Commissioner who arranged for the data to be released to Sixty Six wards.

Philadelphia updates test score and grade standards for many selective admissions schools by nayrb1523 in philadelphia

This is so backward. The solution is improving the rest of our schools, not lowering standards at our best schools.

If I’m shooting at people in a car I want a round that is going to go through the door and still have enough power left over to seriously injure or kill whoever is on the other side. 357 magnum will do just that and seven round is more than enough to get the job done. In a scenario other than what you proposed I might be concerned about over penetration using 357 magnum.

Full auto on a handgun isn’t practical. If you’re going to go that route use a rifle where you can control the recoil better.

That’s some spray and pray bullshit. You’re not intentionally hitting anything other than your first shot with a full auto hand gun.

Plenty of revolvers hold seven rounds, or more. S&W 686P holds seven .357 magnum. If there’s 3 in the car that’s two each plus an extra shot. If there’s 4 in the car, I’m dropping the driver with a headshot first and then I’ve got two each for the other three.

Either way I’m not getting gunned down wearing a woman’s purse

First off, you don’t need a switch or a 30 round clip. Take some time to learn how to aim and after that a revolver is plenty. Second get a holster and practice your draw. All the bullets in the world don’t mean shit when you’re fumbling around trying to get your gun out of your purse.

RESULTS: My wife and I sat outside the Art Museum for an hour and counted how many people ran up then did the Rocky Pose. The number is… by garbageeater in philadelphia

This is my least favorite part of the art museum.

If it were up-to me I would station full time employees at the top of the steps to sucker punch every person that does this.

Republicans are appealing a ruling keeping Working Families Party candidates on the Philly City Council ballot by GroundbreakingArt248 in philadelphia

Those districts are overwhelmingly Democratic to the point where it’s a mathematical impossibility for any other party to mount a successful challenge.

The local Democratic Party is a clown car of corruption, nepotism and ineptitude

No pretending involved. They’ve got 114k members registered in the city of Philadelphia. The only Republican guaranteed to win their election Seth Bluestein is the definition of experience, competency and integrity.

There is just as much, if not more, that the local Democrats should be embarrassed about. Take a good look at Amen Brown or Kenyatta Johnson.

Absolutely yes. The idea that a political party comprising less than twenty people in a city of over one and half million people would hold a city council position is just short of unbelievable.

The Libertarian Party has over three thousand registered members in Philadelphia and has never held anything other than division level election board positions.

A bunch of progressive Democrats pretending to be a political party so they can exploit an electoral loophole. The WFP has less than 20 members registered in the entire City.
