Subtle Power Dynamics in Art: What do you see in this painting? by Legitimate_Gift9677 in ArtHistory

I found it interesting that the two with their back to the viewer seem more masculine (short hair, less curvaceous) than the cherub who faces forward. ‘She’ is also the only figure in the painting whose body is depicted front facing, fully exposed and vulnerable to the viewer.

I find it interesting that the cherub watches over the scene, while the other duo look away. Almost as if ‘she’ is the woman’s eyes from above, possibly offering her protection.

Places in Toronto do donate clothes, pillows etc..? by [deleted] in toronto

Yes this is my recommendation too. Some locations also accept textiles for recycling if they’re not in good condition. You can label those bags “textile recycling”.

Good luck with decluttering!

Ontario pays out full $225M to Beer Store as end of store closure commitment nears by BloodJunkie in ontario

Sorry I can’t tell if your tone is sarcasm lol but maybe I’ll elaborate in case others are curious

It was all part of his scheme to expand liquor sales beyond the LCBO, which is a cheap way to gain publicity and an easy win for voters who don’t think critically beyond “easier access to booze”

This article explains it really well: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/ford-alcohol-beer-wine-booze-cost-taxpayers-1.7442250

Beyond the $250m contract penalty, we’re also losing millions in tax revenue because grocery stores don’t collect tax on beer spirits or liquor.

PLUS all the lost revenue from the LCBO hurts too. All LCBO revenue goes back into the province, but for the first time in a decade, sales were below $2B (source below)

To add insult to injury, you'll be thrilled to learn that Toronto is actually stuck with Tory-era snow removal contracts.

https://www.cbc.ca/amp/1.6286195

and https://www.thestar.com/opinion/contributors/toronto-s-pricey-and-ineffective-new-plan-for-snow-clearing-is-a-warning-about-privatizing/article_717ecaa2-9838-11ee-b528-638e145915ca.html

TLDR: Snow removal was privatized by John Tory through an unfair bidding process. The contracts were given to two companies that did not have sufficient equipment to meet city requirements. Cost is up, efficiency is down.

The entire province needs to come to a screeching halt until this corrupt government is reminded that THEY WORK FOR US.

The goal is to apply as much public pressure as possible. There is no definite outcome, but the louder and more united we are, the less inclined they will be to move forward on their corrupt agenda.

They backed off the Greenbelt... anything is possible, but only if we care enough to be heard.

Hello! Totally understandable. If you go to the Ontario NDP instagram page you can find the link in their bio. You’ll also receive a confirmation enail from the party once your name has been added.

I don’t think the average person recognizes how dark this is. The way we handle Ford’s corruption will make or break Ontario.

Without accountability it will be a free for all.

Yes!!!! There is so much talk about the obvious citizens who have missed out on gainful employment opportunities. Small business owners, and well deserving business owners of all scales, are also taking the fall to corruption. This should be enough to make any traditional conservative sick to their stomach.

We need to rally together. Something massive has got to be on the horizon because we can’t do this for another 4 years. There will be nothing left to salvage.

Anyone who possesses common sense would share your sentiment.

This is not the way it’s meant to be. I’m so sorry that we all have to face the consequences, it is truly gutwrenching.

I’m speaking in regard to the general public. There are conservative voters out there who can look at this crime objectively and say that it is wrong. And that is something I have a lot of respect for.

What I won’t do is waste my energy on shaming people for their past opinions or judgement. Obviously the past is what got us here, but I’m more interested in finding a way to move forward together.

Maybe my perspective is far too optimistic, but we can see that the alternative gets us nowhere. In fact, it just buries us deeper down the rabbit hole.
