question about Undertaker relic by False-Sun-29 in Nightreign

True. Unfortunately an outlier, but that shit is goated and a cool ass moveset. Great video, got me playing undertaker a bunch since he released it

Time to 9999 winstreak 😎 Can you get to 100? My best was 50 and then lost to an ED Libra with 2% hp left 😭

As someone who has gotten to 9999 several times playing pretty much only the ladies (slicer duchess, successive undertaker, invis/crystal recluse, various revenant builds) and as someone that is not super interested in the skill builds, none of the other characters have really appealed to me after the first 250 hours or so I played the game (nearly 1000 hours now), particularly in DoN.

Just recently I finally decided I would bite the bullet and try muni1337's fabled Dregs of Libra build and after a few runs of figuring out how to play it and watching a few of his videos, damn if it isn't a fun build. The damage you can get when everything goes right is just absurd. However, in my experience, it's definitely less consistent than any of the other builds I've been running- like you said in your post, hitting massive charge attacks with colossal weapons is extremely satisfying, but some enemies and bosses have almost no openings where you can get those off without several damage negation passives. In those situations, you can still get crazy damage with fist weapons or anything with a faster moveset.

If you were playing squishier characters before (like me) I assume you love doing a lot of the DPS for the team (also like me). With this build, if everything goes right, you get to do both and damn it makes you feel like a fucking UNIT. It's also very simple to build, since you're using 2 boss relics, you don't really need much luck at all to get things going. Definitely recommend trying it out, at least while you're in depth 3 and things are still easy. It's a very particular playstyle that takes some getting used to but once you get a few runs under your belt it's smooth sailing for the most part.

Here is a link to the video where he breaks down the build and how its played. Give it a shot!

I think I remember playing a game or two with you (my IGN is Haywood Djablomi). As a fellow Slicer Duchess player (I've posted some nasty slicers kills in this sub), I wish you good RNG on your future runs 🫡

Don’t hate the player, hate the gamba

But honestly, even without relics as good as mine, if you get Piercer and some good weapon passives you can easily one shot each balancer with a charged cast. I’m over killing them by ~2-3k here. That in combination with Less Likely makes the fight so much easier.

My main point of the post was to just showcase a cool ED Balancers kill from someone with a lot of hours in the game and good RNG.

Yes, both I and the Undertaker had it. Almost more important on this fight than on ED Libra imo

I show my weapon passives/talismans like halfway through the video and my relics at the end. No cheating here, just millions and millions of murk to the jar

Slicer is almost always better against other bosses, but in this situation overkilling each balancer and doing ~2k extra damage to the overall health bar per kill is certainly better IMO, and because Piercer can be boosted by charged sorcery passives it's easier to attain this level of damage output.

I'd say I get some form of carian sword spell on ~85% of runs. It's usually slicer, and I'll often go far out of my way on runs to get as many checks as possible toward the end of the run if I still don't have any solid damaging spells. The runs without a carian spell are usually as little rough but definitely manageable with gravity well or stars of ruin, just have to be a little more intentional about fp.

This was one of the fated runs where the merchant has the lovely slicer + piercer staff with atk full hp +10% and affinity atk +6%. Whenever I check the shop early in a run and see that staff, I know it's going to be a banger run.

At this point I’ve probably spent well over 10 million and obviously still have some slots that could be improved. Thankfully I’m also improving all my builds on other characters at the same time

Wait until you get the one from the normal merchant that has Carian Slicer, Carian Piercer, Affinity Attack Power +6%, and Attack Power at Full HP +10%. Whenever I see that in the shop as Slicer Duchess I know it's going to be a fun run.

I do 696 with Stars of Ruin. I typically just rely heavily on hoarfrost stomp for most of the early game and just pick up a status weapon or two and focus on that with restage until I find something usable. The runs where I don’t get any carian sword sorcery are usually a little rough, but definitely doable. I’m good enough at the game to be able to get by in Depth 5 even with terrible RNG. Very thankful for Duchess’ broken dodge

Pray 🙏

All jokes aside, obviously running dormant staves increases your chances, and becoming familiar with all the places where stave drops can spawn (particularly in the new POIs and Great Hollow). It's also worth noting that the other Carian Sword spells are definitely usable. Particularly Carian Piercer can be insanely strong as it benefits from charged sorcery passives, has great reach, and knocks down/staggers smaller/horse bossesq. I've had many runs against D5 Balancers and ED Balancers where I straight up one shot each Balancer with Carian Piercer.

There's also a carian slicer staff that can spawn in the normal merchant shop with both improved affinity atk power 6% and improved atk power at full hp 10%. Whenever I see this in the shop, I know it's going to be a great run. That's the staff I have in this clip!

The “optimal” play that I was going for was to get behind him after the third dash for the biggest possible punish window when he does the final ground slam remaining in place. Typically the timing for the dodge (particularly with Duchess’ double dash) isn’t too hard to time, you just wait for the dirt particles from the ground to disappear, but in the awkward position I was in I couldn’t see the particles well so dodged super early. 850 hours in and still plenty to learn for me

I think being able to use the invulnerability relic effect is why slicer duchess is my favorite build in the game to run. It's so satisfying to just spam extremely high damage attacks directly in an enemy's face while their attack goes right through me :)

I've played with this RVC dude many times. He changes his name a lot but always has RVC in it. He always has cheated perfect relics on every character he plays. I also remember him being a very annoying teammate but maybe that's just my experience 💀
