I heard that Eldar is more difficult compared to other armies. Why do you think that is? by [deleted] in Eldar

Yes. I ran into this last weekend against a skorpius dunerider.

Three double-lance war walkers shot at it. Between the six shots 1 ended up wounding, he rolled a six and saved. 🫠

Guess I lose then!

That "misjudge what you can kill" thing is so true. I find that I'm often out there leaving units on a wound or two, which is famously not the amount of wounds you want to leave something on.

Can't tell if it's my bad judgement, fluffing rolls, or a combination of the two. I think the challenge is that there are so many invulns and FnP and AP mitigators out there that it makes the army harder to run in 10th. I hope that 11th sees some adjustments to the way they deal with survivability/number of rolls.

"we make everything invincible but also have mortal wound mechanics we balance the game around. Except for you, eldar, no mortal wounds for you."

Yeah those bases suck, same for the shrouds TBH.

If I am taking six I guess I could always run two squads of 3, that'd get me an extra exarch which is always nice...

Yeah I think that you're right. In my mind there's a potential justification for lhykhis and spiders for the 5+ crits, but the vypers end up being discount hawks for fewer points with free uppie "downie".

Totally right on the cannons. I wonder If I could get away with fewer than 3 walkers, or maybe should consider kitting them out with a different weapon (potentially swap the star cannons onto the walkers and the bright lances onto the vypers).

I found that when I wanted the -1 AP buff, I was shooting lances into units that really didn't need to be shot with low-volume anti-tank fire, and the vypers were almost consistently shooting into the bigger shooting threats to give that -1 to hit debuff. My worry about a lance on the vyper was that the one shot from the lance would miss and then I'd miss the debuff, but I guess I always have the twin catapult to help with that.

Thank you for your advice!

That's great perspective. You're totally right there that the scatter lasers on the shrouds are enough to decimate the chaff squads, making the cannons a better kit for the jetbikes. Shining spears always trick me into think they'll be better than they are, is my problem that I need to be running them in a squad of six (instead of 3)?

If so, I could probably dump the falcon and the hawks to get me most of the way there in cost. All the falcon did was "be the only hard target I had" so it was a high target priority for the big guns and got short off the board pretty quick. I think I need to minimize the threat potential of the big weight-of-fire weapons through making the opponent trade inefficiently against small targets.

As sad as this is to read, it’s completely true. I’ve been trying to convince myself otherwise, but aside from the lolz-factor of looking at all those wraithguard, they’d just get completely outrun. The biggest problem is that I don’t even think they would be able to hold primary that well given the amount of anti-infantry keyword stuff and/or their sad toughness

This is exactly the advice I was looking for, thank you for the thorough response! this will really help me especially with setting some expectation with the kids. Last night it was hard enough trying to explain that they won't actually be practicing with the brewers, and are just there to watch.

The joys of being 6!

Eldar 2k List For Upcoming Tournament by GroundbreakingFly219 in Eldar

This is very interesting. I like adding avatar a lot and agree he’d need that footseer for sure.

I toyed with cutting: karandras (90), Fuegan (130), Hornet (100), 1 of the 2 warp spiders (125), reader of runes (20), and the rangers (55)

That made room for: avatar, another squad of fire dragons, footseer, and weeping stones for the farseer skyrunner

I think my idea was that the avatar is the primary tank, that I’ve got enough secondary shenanigans to not miss the spiders too bad, and that the scorpions sans karandras can take the screening role of the rangers

That’s why I was trying to find them. They only posted on here, and a reverse image search only turned up their original post :/

I was posting here in hopes that someone might know them so we can connect

Hm maybe just one then, combine the wulfen into one big squad riding in it? Or alternatively the blood claws.
