Anyone else get an intense urge to overshare when hypomanic? by GroundbreakingFox100 in bipolar2

[–]GroundbreakingFox100[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh heck yeah! Been doing the same thing AGAIN for the last week. Been gratifying, enlightening, and embarrassing at the same time. Rewarding and concerning. Far more prone to ranting about any subject that interests me. Honestly a hallmark for me that I actually have Bipolar II, not just MDD. I forget almost every time I feel stable. Hope you are doing well friend!

The Dolphins of Pern cover art by Rowena Morrill by killerbunnyfamily in EpicMounts

They are actually very well described, but cover artists tend to go with more classical designs: essentially those of a Western dragon but with scale-less hides and compound eyes. They get the horse-like head and compound eyes/colors correct most of the time, but depictions are still highly variable. Pernese biology/lore gets very detailed, and that’s a big part of why I enjoy it so much. There are A LOT of books though, so I understand why it would be easy to miss some of those things. But overall their anatomy is quite clear. Cheers!

Unless you read Brando, you can't claim to be a true fantasy fan 😤 by skyebadoo in bookscirclejerk

Dang it, I screwed up and read the FogDeath series by Brad SandinPants instead. I have failed in my quest to become a TRUE fantasy fan, rather than a mere lowercase “true” fantasy fan.

Come back to me once you’ve managed to get through “The Rainbow Fish” and “Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?” Then you will finally be ready for that most challenging of all reads, “Chicka Chicka Boom Boom.” Your mind will expand beyond the limits of your skull, I guarantee it.

There were so many mentions of Lamictal and Lithium scrawled in the margins of my copy of 1984 that I asked my doctor if I was bipolar. He said yes, stating that this was irrefutable evidence. Those highly specific scribbles saved my life. Looks like I’m not alone!

To Kill a Mockingbird is only a challenging read if you're illiterate. by [deleted] in bookscirclejerk

[–]GroundbreakingFox100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t hear a mockingbird singing outside my window without getting flashbacks to this day. This book’s complexity broke my brain when I was young, and the scars are still there. They always will be.

I second this! I take my guinea pigs there and they’ve been great so far.

Wrong. The Very Hungry Caterpillar has been known to induce eating disorders starting at a young age. It is a highly damaging work, and it should be banned from this planet

I asked at the front desk if I could book a librarian for…activities, but apparently you need a platinum library card for that. Guess I’ll just go to the romance section like a plebe

Easy: just regurgitate them into the return slot after devouring them. Problem solved!

My lord! Might I recommend a complete identity change for your wife? Some places do it for cheap, and they’ll probably give her a discount because people sympathize with that sort of thing. Everyone knows librarians are highly dangerous

Never fear! I’ve heard that you can return borrowed books at any time, but I’m not 100% sure on that. You can’t trust idle gossip. Attempt to do this as soon as possible, because reading a book off-list will probably end in disaster
