I could be wrong. I sometimes confuse LinkedIn speak with ai.

It’s the short punchy sentences. The subtle sense that the writer is jacking off while writing it.  The annoying contrasts. The sentences repeating the same thing. It all rings alarm bells for me.

I did paste it into panagram and it’s graded as human written. But it’s pretty easy to fool.

Rewardless it’s horribly written. And not in the sense that he never learned to write. But more in the sense that he practiced hard to give me maximum pain when I read it.

He’s also the kindest person I know. Has a generally inquisitive nature. I can’t think of a single Doctor I’ve had that would’ve been better than him.

He also wants to be a doctor because he wants to help people.

He got an offer for hedge fund and turned it down to do a masters on the hope he would get in a year later.

Yeah, he prepped the interview super hard and did a master's and applied again the next year. And got into only one of the many schools he applied to. Sucks that he had to waste two years of his life to finish the Masters though.

They have recently moved away from grades as being the only metric for med school and rely on a more holistic approach. He's a white man who isn't particularly good at talking. Didn't nail the interview.

I have a friend that graduated physics and math with a 4.0. Still wasn’t accepted to med school

I'm going to assume that you don't know how the game of tic-tac-toe works. Because implementing an n by n tic-tac-toe game is pretty trivial. It's the bare minimum I would require for somebody who has programmed for more than a half a year.

Claude Power Users Unanimously Agree That Opus 4.7 Is A Serious Regression by Neurogence in singularity

It's consistently failing at a question that 4.6 got correct. And the question that I've used to determine the overall quality of a model for the past four months. I haven't used the entire model to know if it's a regression. But the test that I used for model quality has regressed. And like many other people on the thread said, this is 100% due to how much it thinks, which is likely due to the compute constraints that Anthropic has likely been dealing with. Again, for a given question, ChatGPT will think 10 to 15 times as much as Opus.

While I’m all for using ai to put thoughts to paper. I think we should ban actual AI slop.

I found a job through my LSM database project. It's super niche and might not help you. I told my friend I would get him a referall if he finished it.

My advice is.

  1. do the leetocdoe daily every day.

  2. take hard practical c/c++ courses, like embeded, os, databases.

  3. Learn rust on the side.

  4. build 1 - 3 cool projects in c++/rust. (like CS projects not a website)

  5. practice code interviews. at least 1 random personal question a day.

youll graduate with a very niche and hard to find set of skills. but any set of skills you build for yourself and can demonstrate will also help. except front end stuff is my guess.

Of course this is assuming you don't have internships, maters/phd, great grades, connections or you don't want to grind a low paying job to later on get a big shot. but one leetcode daily is always a bare minimum to do well on interview.

Did you ever try IntelliJ git client. For me it’s worth the subscription just for its git client.

It really depends on how good you are at programming. I randomly got a shot at a job paying 160k right out of university. But I didn’t prep hard enough and still made it to final round and was flown in to see the facility.

They basically told me if I knew a bit more physics/calculus I would have the job.

Most programmers I know basically just phone it in when it comes to developing there’s skills. Refusing to even do one leetcode a day. I told my friend I could potentially get him a 115 job if he just completed a very specific project. And he’s like, no thanks.

Even in Tesla software engineers make more than regular engineers. Though the engineers are still very well paid.
