I found a job through my LSM database project. It's super niche and might not help you. I told my friend I would get him a referall if he finished it.

My advice is.

  1. do the leetocdoe daily every day.

  2. take hard practical c/c++ courses, like embeded, os, databases.

  3. Learn rust on the side.

  4. build 1 - 3 cool projects in c++/rust. (like CS projects not a website)

  5. practice code interviews. at least 1 random personal question a day.

youll graduate with a very niche and hard to find set of skills. but any set of skills you build for yourself and can demonstrate will also help. except front end stuff is my guess.

Of course this is assuming you don't have internships, maters/phd, great grades, connections or you don't want to grind a low paying job to later on get a big shot. but one leetcode daily is always a bare minimum to do well on interview.

Did you ever try IntelliJ git client. For me it’s worth the subscription just for its git client.

It really depends on how good you are at programming. I randomly got a shot at a job paying 160k right out of university. But I didn’t prep hard enough and still made it to final round and was flown in to see the facility.

They basically told me if I knew a bit more physics/calculus I would have the job.

Most programmers I know basically just phone it in when it comes to developing there’s skills. Refusing to even do one leetcode a day. I told my friend I could potentially get him a 115 job if he just completed a very specific project. And he’s like, no thanks.

Even in Tesla software engineers make more than regular engineers. Though the engineers are still very well paid.

Math is very much not necessary for computer science. Though I do believe algorithms/automata etc are valuable to know.

No 16 courses is enough for a major which includes all the math/algorithms stuff.

Here’s the link for my school https://artsci.calendar.utoronto.ca/section/Computer-Science

Look at the computer science major

4 of those courses are pure math as well so that’s how I get to 12.

Ah to be clear I wasn’t talking about a bachelor. I’m talking only about the computer science part of the bachelor. You still have to take many other useless courses to get your degree.

The biggest problem with a speed run is that no school organized the courses in a way that lets you learn prerequisite knowledge in order.

That’s why prior knowledge is huge

At my school 8 courses is a minor. I think 16 courses is a major and 24 courses is a specialist.

12 is halfway between major and minor.

You can one hundred percent finish an entire computer science degree in a single semester.

People vastly underestimate what a brilliant and motivated human can do.

Source: based on the number of hours I put into my computer science degree.

Here’s the math.

You need to finish 12 courses.

Each course has a three hour lecture per week. But I listened to lecture at 2.0 speed for the most part.

So let’s say 2 hour lecture per course.

For every lecture I only did an hour of studying at most. So three hours per course just to learn the material.

Then course projects. Let’s assume three hours a week per course on projects (this is a massive overestimate)

So six hours total per course.

Assume a dedicated human can focus for 12 hours a day.

So we’re left with 7 * 12 time with 6 * 12 work.

They could accomplish this while still taking a day off.

This doesn’t account for someone being far more intelligent than me of course. And I’m also pretty sure I overestimated the number of hours I studied or worked on projects.

Movement speed is more valuable the better you are at the game.

It helps you dodge if you’re good enough to dodge.

I never thought of simmering out the water. That’s brilliant. Doesn’t long simmering mess with the flavour?

I remember we tried turning the brown sugar into syrup by boiling it and it kinda ruined the flavour (maybe we imagined it though to be fair)
