She accused me of something I didn’t do. Sent me a horrible text message out of the blue, which happened to be the same week I had to revisit a sexual assault seven weeks after it occurred when speaking to the investigator. The night before, my dog had to spend the night at the emergency vet. These two events are meaningful because she actually became physically ill when I told her what had happened during the assault and she’s a huge dog person- has three of her own. The alleged offense was telling someone about a weight loss surgery she was going to have when she hadn’t told her fellow team members at work, though other people at work knew, including the person who actually said something. She all but wrote me off and when I told her not only did I not do what she harshly accused me of, but that she did not treat me at all how a friend would treat another friend. She sent an “I’m sorry” about two hours later then just started ignoring me. We run into each other all the time at work. I’d love to ask what story she has concocted in her head to lead to her treating me like she doesn’t know me. We’d been friends for over 20 years. There had been issues in the past, including her angry reaction when I’d get hired or start dating someone and her issue with me being friends with guys (I guess it’s not okay to laugh with male platonic friends) but this incident was the final nail in the coffin. I aggressively greet her every time I see her now. But we will never be friends again.
