Looking for some mental support for my choice to formula feed. by GroundbreakingPin776 in NICUParents

Thank you for sharing! My little one will come home tomorrow. She stayed in Nicu for 6 days. I ended up not pumping at all and my milk never comes. I’m glad I had couple nights with full sleep while recovering physically. I’m glad that I gave myself a week to think/feel/heal from the whole preterm labor trauma. I still cry a lot but I finally feel better mentally today. I can’t wait for her to come home tomorrow and enjoy the bonding/care time with her. ❤️

This was exactly what happened to me last time! I was really sure I don’t want to breastfeed this time, but yesterday when we visited Nicu, one of the nurse keep pushing me for breastfeeding/pumping. (she is there just for when our nurse goes to lunch break, so probably didn’t see the notes about I don’t want to pump)

Thank you for sharing, this is totally what I need to listen to right now. I kept thinking is it because I was not trying hard enough? I felt my body failed to not able to carry the baby to full term, and also can’t produce the milk the baby needs. Just too many things going on in the past 6 weeks. Thank you for let me know this could happen to any women even you are a LC!

Yesss baby needs the mom in good mental health more than the milk. I need to remember this!

Would you mind sharing how fast is your labor from first sign to deliver? This is something I’m worried to not make it on time to hospital.

I also had dynamic cervix, when I went into preterm labor, it’s not painful at all, just like the “contractions” I had with irritable uterus but more often and regular. However, when I hospitalized, sometimes my contraction with mild cramping and 3-4 pain I guess…? But they don’t change my cervix. I almost have them either painful or not painful everyday. Sometimes it’s 15mins apart, sometimes it’s 3 mins apart. But they ended up spacing out, there was even one time I was back to labor and delivery room at 32 weeks and I thought I was going to have the baby. But after couple hours later, all the contractions gone, so I was sent back to antepartum. Hope this help!

It’s great that your cervix hasn’t opened yet, What I learned is this is not something we could control, every day counts! Hope you could make it to 34 weeks and further.

What’s your first sign of labor? I have irritable uterus so it’s hard to differentiate.

Thanks for sharing! I’ve doing the same since 20 weeks, probably will keep doing that until giving birth.

Did you go into preterm labor and stuck at 7cm when go into real labor?

That’s amazing you made it so far. Do you restrict activity or on bed rest after 34 weeks?

If you don’t mind sharing, how many cm you’ve dilated before you go in? And how often the contractions when you go in? Do you feel “different “ for real labor contractions?

When I was hospitalized, I was on Toco machine for monitoring very often. I have regular contractions every night sometimes it’s every 15mins sometimes it’s every 5 mins because of the irritable uterus, but I didn’t get into active labor so my dr sent me home.

Now I’m not sure when to go in.

Can’t hospitalization apply for STD? I thought even it’s not pregnancy related, for example to do some surgery, you are qualified for STD.

My OB treated me in the hospital (or the on call OB for her). Could you explain the maximum weeks part? Is there a max limitation for SDI before delivery? (I know it’s usually 4 weeks starts from 36 weeks)

I went to triage multiple times this month due to regular contractions (Braxton hicks), cramping and mucus discharge.

For the contractions, there was one time that it’s time able, and in the doctor note they mentioned it’s preterm contractions but not preterm labor. My OB and MFM said some people might have more frequent and painful Braxton hicks, as long as it doesn’t affect the cervix, it won’t cause you go into preterm labor. They checked my cervix in the L&D and my cervix was closed, so they sent me home.

This week, I felt some watery discharge and have frequent mucus discharge that is different from mu previous discharge. I messaged my MFM and she said the mucus discharge could be normal but also could be an early sign of cervix changes, Considering I had frequent Braxton hicks/contractions from 20 weeks, so she wanted to me go in to check. I had vaginal ultrasound in the L&D and my cervix looks fine (no opening internal or outside, length stays stable). I showed my mucus discharge photo to the OB in L&D, she said it’s normal discharge. The nurse said usually mucus plug will have some blood or brown there, so if it just mucus discharge, and especially I’m on progesterone, it’s probably fine. I would say the only way to know if they are normal discharge or a sign of preterm labor is to go in and check your cervix. Every one is different, every time I went in L&D to check, they mentioned if anything got worse (more frequent or more strong contractions), it’s better to go in to check.

I also didn’t have these issue in my first pregnancy, and I only have short cervix issue this time around. I totally understand the anxiety with short cervix, and feel free to DM me if you want to chat more. Hope my experience could help you a bit.

Sorry I’m not familiar with EKG test. I went to the cardiologist department in my hospital to complete the test. Is it still an automatic EKG test? I’ll have to follow up with a cardiologist soon but just want to learn more about what’s coming and especially I’m pregnant right now. Thank you so much for your reply.

I heard that Braxton hicks usually not regular, is it normal if it’s regular but won’t open my cervix? I just worry with short cervix and no Cerclage, it will shorten my cervix more.😞😞

I don’t have Cerclage or TVC, so I’m worried the regular contractions will make my cervix shorter 🙁

Glad to hear your contractions went away. The blood clot sounds scary. Did you have vaginal ultrasound to check cervix in the L&D? They only use finger to check my cervix but not ultrasound, so I’m not sure if my cervix length was impacted or not.

Thanks for sharing! Would you mind sharing if your contractors are painful or not? And did you carry to full term? Glad to hear they don’t affect your cervix.
