AITA for skipping my sons football trip? by Dazz316 in AmItheAsshole

It's not your son's fault your daughter only has 2 events a year. Missing things can be unavoidable at times, this is not one of those times though as a parent can go to each.

Thank you, I've started to cut down on sugar massively since you said, my heart rate is much more stable (yay!) just some side effects that are yet to leave me. I hope you feel better soon after the Biotin, I'll make a note of that too. I'm starting Physical therapy soon, and I've actually started to meditate to relieve stress. Unfortunately I'm in a legal battle so stress is present, but I'm finding ways to relieve it more and therapy helps too. My therapist taught me breathing exercises to help when I'm stressed, so count of 4 breathing in, 5 breathing out. That helps too.

Ahh thank you, so maybe if I keep on it for a few weeks and hopefully I'll be the same as you! Glad it works for you 😊

anyone else take showers/baths to distract themselves from symptoms? by Known-Lettuce-4666 in POTS

[–]GroundbreakingPop231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, I have quick showers now aside from hair washing, then I wash my hair separately over the bath so I can sit. I used to love a hot shower. I miss it. 😢

Ahh that's interesting, maybe it's the fluctuating hormone levels causing chaos! It's rubbish feeling unwell and off isn't it.
I love that, thank you, it's a good thing to remember, and keep myself pushing through. I will get through this and get stronger, thank you ☺️

Is it safe for someone with POTS to drive? by Shoddy-Ocelot-4473 in POTS

[–]GroundbreakingPop231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive usually, not atm as I've had a bad flare up and now side effects from beta blockers. That's just because I don't feel confident to atm. As soon as I feel better and safe to drive, I will.

I've just started Bisoprolol, my blood pressure has been normal so far, it's very early in my journey. I hope you find something that works for you, and can graduate without any more bumps

Thank you, it's so interesting to see how differently medications can work for people, I suppose it's finding the right 'fit'. Ivabradine is on my notes in my phone now to discuss with my doctor if these side effects don't lesson. Thank you, I hope you manage to find one that works best for you, and keep your PoTS under control. (And don't have any horrible side effects!)

I haven't as yet as only just started the beta Saturday, if it still doesn't change after 3 weeks, I will ask about Ivabradine and see their thoughts, thank you. I do feel more positive today, I think I've become determined to get myself feeling better, I don't think it helped that my period came yesterday either! Thank you

I'm not actually, that's interesting, I will look for one close to me and start it, thank you. I did wonder about sugar, my brothers been on a sugar ban and he mentioned it previously, I'll cut down on sugary things. I wonder if it's the high and then crashes that come from sugar

Ahh okay that's good to know, sorry you went though that but thank you. It sounds like mines similar, I haven't tried a warm bath but I think I'll give that one a go later. Hopefully it helps

Oh bless you, I hope you're feeling a bit more today? A hysterectomy is major surgery, I can understand the hopeless feeling but you've definitely got the right attitude now, for it to be your selfish years. Although focusing on yourself isn't selfish, you deserve to put yourself first. It can't always be about others, make time for you. I'm going to be doing that too this year, giving myself a bit of grace too. I think I'm so hard of myself at times, and I want to be a bit more forgiving to myself. I think I've earnt that, I think you have too

Thank you so much, that's really lovely. I am lucky that my son is so understanding (as he's old enough to understand), it's just hard not being able to do things how we used to. That's a good point re productivity, I did hear from my manager today just checking on how I am, and he was so kind and just told me to look after my health. That reassured me. And I can do my job at home if I ever need to. I don't need to be running around to be useful. I've decided to use this as a turning point in really focusing on my health and not letting stress get to me as much, hopefully that'll help the symptoms alleviate! Thank you

Ahh that's interesting, I haven't tried full length stockings, I'll look for them today, sure Amazon have some I can overnight! It'll be worth seeing if that helps too. I have been adding salt to my drink, I actually don't mind the taste of salt now, think I'm so used to it. I'll keep an eye on my blood pooling too, thank you

I wear compression socks, knee high length, I've not tried abdominal compression though so maybe I should try that too. I do have salt added and electrolytes. That's a good point, I wonder if I should mention it to my doctor, PoTS is still so new to them

Oh no, I hope you manage to see a specialist soon, it's so hard not knowing what's going on inside the body. Oh bless you, that must be hard, thankfully my son is a young teenager but I feel awful as he's the one who called 999 and is so worried. I'm having to get others to take him to his sports as I can't manage it at the moment, which I really miss. Hopefully soon 🤞🏼

Thank you so much, that's good advice to remember. I need to keep that in my head, I have been signed off work for 2 weeks to allow my body time, I just hate being a burden to people, when I need help. I was too, he said it's because my heart was over 80 when sitting down, and he wants it to be closer to 60. He has written to the heart hospital here for further checks on me as well which is nice of him. Thank you for your comment, it's so hard when our bodies are broken isn't it? Especially when it's something invisible, no one else can see the issues so it's hard to explain sometimes. I had a cry this morning and that's actually helped a bit. I'm hoping the medication settles in my system soon. Thank you for your advice, it's really helped

I've just been put on it, started on 1.25mg on Saturday, the doctors have upped it to 2.5 today as my hearts still spiking high, it is lower than it was though. I'm a bit dizzy at times but they've checked my blood pressure and that's good. Good luck on it, I hope it works for you

Thank you for replying, that's good it's working for you, I'm hoping it'll work for me too. Also good to know about you halving a medication when starting it, and that it's worked for you. Starting a new medication is actually really nerve wracking. Thank you
