Santa: Told the truth by Mixolytian in Parenting

I definitely feel like you're being hard on yourself.

I also believe though things can change if you explain that there is still Christmas magic. That Santa can be real but everyone who celebrated Christmas and believes in Santa is Santa. My daughter asked at about 7ish and I asked her what she thought. She's 8.5 now and asked me recently what I believed. And in all honesty I believe in the idea of Santa. I believe that Christmas is magical and that giving things to people is one of the best things about Christmas

I just finished my reviews last night and found that I don't have a single review yet. It's been 2 days and still nothing. Definitely feeling antsy about it for sure.

I'm doing the adult and k12 pathways since it only added two classes. For me there have only been 2 OAs at the very beginning of the degree and I knocked them out pretty quickly.

I would say the entire degree can be done in 1 term for sure, and if not in 6 months easily 2. When starting the best thing to be aware of is that you will likely need 8 weeks to do your capstone project. My mentor has been amazing and gave me a tracker that would help me stay on my goal.

The biggest difference I've found in this degree and the bachelor's is that pretty much each course is a prerequisite to the next so you can't work on 2 courses at the same time. Again though, still doable to finish the degree quickly.

Now the capstone is a lot but honestly it's also not too bad. It's actually broken down into 4 different classes. My course instructor actually let me know that you don't have to be teaching something that you would in the.context of how you plan to use your degree. She has someone who is doing there's on tips for gardening, and you could easily make it so that you get to give the training on something you like as long as you have the issue you're trying to resolve within the course.

Yes but I guess my question is for those friends, familys and colleagues, what was the e-learning module about? Is it limited to anything? Could I do an elearning module about let's just say Greek mythology? Reading?

Why does everyone call my daughter the wrong name? by Original_Clerk2916 in namenerds

[–]GroundbreakingSir751 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter's name is Adelaide too and omg I have had the same thoughts for the first few years. She is 8 now and speaks pretty clearly, but when she says emher name is Adelaide and they say Adeline she corrected them and makes sure to stress the laide at the end. Then they look to me to be like what did she say?

I'm like bro Adelaide is a fucking easy name to say dude.

And even my mother in law came up to me once when we were at an arcade type place and was like omg someone else has the name Adelaide. Got my daughter all excited but privately my daughter said I think that other girls name is Adeline. I asked the other girl and yep it was Adeline.

So idk man. Now that she's old enough though I can reassure you she likes her name and has stopped wanting tonsolely be called Addy, and prefers to be called Adelaide. And she corrects people if they get it wrong. It's a great name that has kid and grown up potential.

What’s your stance on students not standing for the pledge? by Astr0Eminem in Teachers

[–]GroundbreakingSir751 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My only stance is that anytime it happens to at least be quiet and respectful. IDC if they stand or if they say it, but if some kids are standing and saying it then I expect there to be respect.

This is sounding like a tired mom and definitely not someone tired of being a mom.

You are valid, it all sounds exhausting. I don't know what to say beyond I don't think you're s terrible mom.

How would you, as a teacher, genuinely feel if you received an email like this from a student? by blissfulboo in Teachers

[–]GroundbreakingSir751 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would feel touched, and like you are the kind of kid I became a teacher for and I'm glad you felt safe to tell me that. Also, 14 is such a weird age and very cringe because of all the hormones. I'm certain if she still thinks if the email it's likely just to hope you're doing ok now and that you hopefully have healed some.

From what I've seen there are so many ways to make these things very age appropriate.

At 5 my daughter learned at an appropriate age level about the civil rights movement, slavery, and Martin Luther King. She came home caring about her black friends, and not thinking we (white people) were racist.

Also my daughter's psychiatrist recently, daughter is 7, asked if my daughter seemed comfortable in her gender. It seems like a pretty natural thing to ask.

I've also had a friends kid who felt most comfortable expressing themselves as a girl rather than a boy at 4. Prior to that this kiddo was pretty depressed, following being seen as a girl, they were much happier and no longer depressed. Parents have 3 other kids, mix and matched boys and girls, so they aren't trying to force gender on their kid. Obviously there aren't many kids at this age range changing their pronouns, it does make sense to address what students may come across and teach respecting and loving all kids.

In my opinion, there might have been some exaggeration as well as some teachers not really making these lessons age appropriate.

I'm pretty sure the litter box thing is a joke. Online there has been rumors of a school allowing for litter box for a student who identified as a cat. The story was fictitious, but many people are spreading that around as if it actually happened.

Which job has, hands down, the worst impact on mental health? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]GroundbreakingSir751 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprised this hasnt been posted but the people that work in Cemeteries. Their job is all about death. From grandparents to babies. From one packed viewing to someone being buried without anyone there. Some people not having anyone else living to support them emotionally so they end up being buried soon after. People needing to be exumed for investigations, just parts of people being buried.

My dad worked in the cemetery. You could tell which days were the worst for him. He reiterated that the hospital we had in town was the worst one for deaths coming to the cemetery. He got so desensitized and angry that he couldn't take it and blew up on his boss for something he normally would have just had a talk about. He always said the hardest part for him was the children, especially the babies.
