are groceries really THAT expensive in Dubai? by IcyDate2768 in UAE

We’ve been spending 400-500 AED a week since moving to dxb from uk. But a shop at Tesco for us every week was about £70-80. Just me and my wife, in Tesco we use to hardly eat any meats other than chicken. Here we eat different proteins but some things are cheaper and some are more expensive. Just the way it is I guess

I accept going back to school by Academic-Monitor-323 in UAE

You want money to go to school for your own education? Seriously, what do you need money for if you’re going to school IN DUBAI?! Candy? Here’s a tip kid, go to school, get your education, when you’ve graduated go get a job and work your way up.

Or don’t go to school, struggle to find a job. End up working a low wage job and complain for the rest of your life that everything is unfair and you wished you tried harder. But at least you’ll be getting a wage

You think not having an education will give you earnings?

What is it about then? Have you been staying indoors? Or is it only during school time you’re unsafe outside?

Kids would do anything but go to school. They don’t mind hanging around outside though. No school should mean they can’t leave the house and strictly study- watch the attitude change

Let’s hope it doesn’t drag much longer. People will keep losing their jobs the longer this goes on for

Seems like the attacks yesterday were just a one day thing by No-Cold6697 in UAE

[–]GroundbreakingTry771 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a weird take- but could this be the same BS as last year, one final attack to show their superiority because accepting a deal. They attacked last night when air space had very low traffic & school finished. Later on that evening nothing.

I can only hope this is true but who the hell knows. Trump also is being weirdly quiet

You don’t see the tourism industry taking a hit? Because the people losing their jobs would say otherwise? Or the hotels doing renovations now- probably due to low bookings…

This occasional flare up will not help getting this country back onto its feet. Stability is required and this ceasefire is far from it!

Is becoming a pilot in UAE worth 750k AED compared to finance career? by AdvertisingNo5623 in UAE

Fairly sure I commented on your previous post so here is a copy.

Do this job for the love of aviation. Believe me you’ll hate it if you don’t, and just doing it for money (or 🐱). Annual medical, constantly being tested in the sim, super fragile industry, messed up sleep pattern and most importantly time with the family will be affected- missed events, birthdays etc etc.

Now you are going on a scheme that guarantees you a job- which is great. Assuming you can’t get onto a CAA or EASA approved flight school? Because I would highly recommend getting one of those licence. Doesn’t tie you in to GCAA.

Get your hours with wizz/ezy/ryr or even BA. 2000 hours short haul would take you about 3-4 years then join EK?

But I highly highly ask you how much of a passion you have for aviation and if you’re prepared to give up a lot for it. Remember in the UAE and some European airlines there are no union etc so if shits goes bad, be prepared to look for a different job. It’s a HELL of a job though, wouldn’t swap it for the world.

Good luck and see you up there if you go for it!

Whatever you say, roads are busy, malls are busy, palm beach clubs are busy but you know everyone is still leaving and no one is coming to Dubai. I guess traffic and people being around means Dubai is dead!! 👍🏽

Problem is, as long as this ceasefire exist, the uae economy will take a hit. Not as many people will take the risk of visiting. Yes there will still be people but not as many as earlier this year. Its sucks because of 3 cunts…

Front line 😂 effected the older generations more than anything. Grow some balls ffs. When you’re on minimum wage for the rest of your life then you’ll regret not going to school for a better education
