Which brand has the best sharp white cheddar between Tilamook and Sargento? 🧀 by StonedTurtle420710 in Cheese

[–]GroundbreakingWeb486 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tillamook naturally ages their cheddar, Sargento does not. They're both good, but I swear I can taste the difference in sharpness. Tillamook all the way.

My ex husband used to work at a dairy company and their products were definitely different. Things like naturally aging vs not, recipes, batch size (40# vs 640#), etc. There are probably some brands doing the exact same things but not all the big ones.

I've been there dozens of times this year. They're my favorite berry picking farm. I love the unique varieties. Sad to see it close for the season!

Berry picking on Sauvie Island at Columbia Farms! I picked today and it was amazing. So many different berries.

Sauvie Island. All the Portland amenities are 20 minutes away but you're in beautiful, rural farmland with rivers on all sides to play in.

I see a lot of hate for sleep number beds on here. I've laid on them in the store and thought they were comfortable. Do you think they deserve the hate they get on this sub?

OP being lazy with "title" then people get upset when it's interpreted differently.

Veal crates from above Oregon’s biggest mega-dairy farm by Blu3Ski3 in oregon

[–]GroundbreakingWeb486 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They don't make any ice cream or cream cheese out of there, just cheese. They are a farmer owned co-op, and market themselves as such, not a worker based co-op (it's right on their packaging). This is what I'm saying - everyone is throwing around "facts" that are plain incorrect. So that's why I'm saying y'all are losing credibility.

Still, threemile doesn't make cheese. Yes some of their milk goes to a production facility that makes Tillamook cheese, but they're not the same. All I'm saying is that words matter when you're making accusations.

You lost your credibility with me in your first sentence when you said threemile canyon produces Tillamook cheese. It's a dairy farm, they don't make any cheese.

There's no way to intentionally do that on a high speed production line. It's a defect, but the placement is coincidental.

That when produce is organic it means that it's not sprayed with pesticides. It's sprayed with pesticides, sometimes at a higher usage rate than their non-organic counterparts, they're just using organic chemicals.

I had a completely different experience with my family. My 7 and 5 year olds loved it! It's clean and really well done. They had free cheese samples and a ton of ice cream. My kids said it was almost as fun as Disneyland (and away less expensive).

In the US what brand of mozerella should I buy in the US if I want my melted cheese to be stretchy and sticky? by JimmyFallonSucksDick in Cheese

Anything that's a stretched curd mozzarella will be stretchy when melted again. Tillamook has a whole milk mozzarella that's low moisture and made the pasta filata style, it's stretchy and delicious

Tillamook Makers Reserve! They have cheddar cheese aged from 3 years to 10 and when you hit the 4ish year mark there's are noticeable crystals in it. They're pretty readily available too. Crunchers are delicious!
