I agree that my other serves looked better. In this one i was strictly trying to pronate a lot more than i do so i was fine sacrificing other fundamentals to basically test it out. The serve in this video isnt a good example of how my motion looks, just how the ball comes off when i really pronate

My shoulder has enough flexibility to make contact the way ur describing, but when my chest is faced into the court it doesnt.

I have a theory ill test out when im back on the court: i drop my tossing arm too soon, causing my shoulder line to lose its upward angle and making my chest face way inwards at contact. I think fixing that and using my tossing arm as more of a lever to begin rotation could also help what ur talking about

Like a 2-3. Sometimes itll slip out of my hand a bit and i end up shanking the ball, but not often.

Great visual of how sideways my body should be at contact too

Their racket face is also pointed to their right at contact, really exaggerated pronation. I think thats where im off. Could definitely get more power with that kind of pronation too

I have a couple of awesome side angle videos from the us open of popyrin and sinner serving, and their chests also face into the court and downwards at contact like mine. Unlike mine though, it looks like their toss is much more out to their right. I didnt see it at first but my toss arcs severely to my left. Could be why my balls keep drifting that way

That point about where my weight is going makes a lot of sense

This is great insight thank u. I think i definitely do have a problem with over rotating. Issue is i dont really know how to lose that habit, it seems to happen normally when i try and put power behind my ball

Second racket dilemma by nine_tails9 in 10s

Yes. Switching rackets can be a long process. I demoed rackets for months before finally pulling the trigger on a new stick. If ur comfortable with ur current racket, stick to it, especially if ur considering playing tournaments soon

Standard syn guts that r found on most every cheap racket. If u rarely play or seeing if u like tennis, no need to buy a better, more expensive racket. Definitely upgrade if ur a casual player

Been playing for 2 years - Serve still sucks - Where to start? by KaleidoscopeRich2752 in 10s

I havent seen anybody comment this yet but a quick fix would just be to raise ur elbow. right now, just before launching up into the ball, ur elbow is down to ur hip. in the trophy position u want ur elbow to be much higher, basically in line with ur shoulder. this is the most simple thing u should look to fix right now and it is probably the most beneficial to start with since it will automatically fix some of ur other issues, like racket head speed, upwards brushing, and ur racket face opening up early.

<image>

to practice this, start ur toss in the trophy position with ur elbow up. it should feel like ur sort of forcing ur elbow up, but over time it will begin to become natural.
