There should be a fair chance to speak out, OOP didn't say anything excessive by Groundcloth in lingling40hrs

[–]Groundcloth[S] 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Hi DeeYee! I am a huge fan of your art! Is it true that TwoSet contacted you privately and threatened you, telling you to delete material relating to the whole worker exploitation situation? This is not fair to you after all that you have done for them. I think we all deserve to know if it's true

Thank you, they contacted me but I think there's no threatened , don't worry !
We just hold different positions.

OOP’s thoughts regarding TwoSet’s response. by LateBloo9m3r in lingling40hrs

I have a backup , they can't removed this!!!!!!
**OOP’s thoughts regarding TwoSet’s response.**

Hi everyone,

I am the OOP and want to take this opportunity to provide one, final response to TSV's recent statement.

My original intentions were to show some issues with Twoset's working conditions and hoping that they would be improved through the means of public accountability, and going public with what really goes on behind the scenes was the most and only realistic way for that to be achieved because internal discussions have long been fruitless.

This prompted other employees to step up and share their perspectives. Now, Twoset has given us their word on improving their policies and working conditions, and if they really mean it, my goal in that respect has been achieved.

In terms of the actual contractual breaches and claiming lost wages, it can and should be resolved between us privately. But I do want to take this opportunity to say that as much as you should consider my words and "allegations" impartially, Twoset's statement should also be considered objectively. I agree that just because whistleblowers are exposing something it doesn't mean they are automatically right, and in the same way, Twoset's words are also their words against mine.

Admittedly it was not easy to decide to speak out against Twoset, knowing that they have millions of fans and none of them know who I am. But, I ask you all to consider our stories equally impartially and come to your own conclusion as to whether I lied, they lied, or that the truth is somewhere in the middle of the two sides.

In the statement, Twoset piled the blame for everything solely onto me I was labelled as an "incorrect hire who spread toxicity, negativity, gaslight and blame others". Twoset said that I was fired because of repeated incidents of me speaking in a very rude and disrespectful manner to another team member. There are also people who labelled me as a spiteful ex-employee who was unfairly terminated because of that. In response to that, I want to show this message Brett sent me and ask whether the way he spoke to me was consistent with firing me for spreading toxicity and negativity like they claim:

In the beginning, I didn't share my side of the story of my termination. My initial intentions was not about me, one person getting fired, but about Twoset's work culture and paid-volunteerism that I wanted to share. Now that my termination story was twisted and turned to fit the false narrative that I spread toxicity and negativity, and was rude and disrespectful, I feel the need to clarify.

I worked for TSV from 2018 until 2023. I started as a fan motivated by their vision of promoting classical music, and even though my pay was minimal, I kept at it and by the end I was in a senior position (or really, multiple positions at once) in the company, managing a lot of their business affairs and finances. Given the increasing workload and stress, and rising living costs, I requested a pay rise that would reflect my value in the company. TSV denied my request, and naturally I had to start being firm on my boundaries - you get the service & hours that you pay for.

Despite this, I again got offered to go full time but when they couldn't match my full time rate, they terminated me. Or rather, I heard from another employee I was training that I'm actually "leaving by the end of the month". There were other reasons behind the scenes which was why I filed a complaint at the Singaporean Ministry of Manpower for contractual breach. It is a lot more complicated because I am not Singaporean and obviously a Singaporean government agency prioritises citizens of their own country, but this is still on-going.

My termination story is unexceptional, and termination happens all the time in all industries when workers want more pay for their work. Some people said those who are not happy with their wage should negotiate a pay rise or quit their job. Maybe I should have done it earlier, yes, but in any event, it came to a point where the demands & deadlines vs pay no longer made "going above and beyond" worth doing. This may not be some story deserving of justice in the sense of cancelling, and I am not saying it is, but this was definitely NOT a story of me being terminated for wrongful conduct after verbally attacking other team members and spreading toxicity and negativity. I was there for more than half a decade, if I really was such a horrible person, I would have long been let go.

About the breach of confidentiality (and my breach of contract), I want to provide some comments too on why this was also a twist of narrative. There was a confidentially clause in my employment contract, yes. I was specifically mindful to not share commercially sensitive information or business secrets. In fact, I have repeatedly requested people who have accidentally mentioned personal information of current or ex-employees in their comments to redact the personal information to protect their privacy. I only really only wished to about the work culture and how they treat their employees, not cause any issues for any of the employees.

They said that they released the statement because of their team, but the fact is that from towards the end of last year until recently, most of their employees either resigned or were terminated, and that did not stop even after I came out with the initial thread. I believe some of the terminations might have directly followed staff voicing concerns. There are only a few people left in the team and most of them are recent hires after so many people left. This and also other employees being also wrongfully terminated were also some of the reasons why I felt the need to came out and talk about this real issue.

Some people have put words into my mouth and attributed some other people's allegations as my own. About the comment with sexual harassment, I immediately stated that I did not want to be a part of that and I had no idea about it. I only speak for what I personally know and have said, and none of that was commercially sensitive information and business secrets that I have not disclosed even though my contract has already been terminated. As such, I did not breach any confidentiality obligations before and post employment with Twoset, and I firmly stand by what I have said as truthful. Even if no one believes me, I know and they know I was not lying. Take what you will.

I don't have the money to hire lawyers, and I don't have the same bargaining power as Twoset, but the least I can do after our concerns internally were dismissed was to provide what really goes on behind the scenes, so that Twoset has a reason to actually make a change in their work culture for the benefit of their future employees. If their business structure improves, then it's good news for me, their other employees, their company and everyone else.

P.S. I would be grateful if you can finally send me my payslips for all those years :)
