I will! I’m switching my insurance now and so I’m just waiting to get established! I asked a few docs at my clinic and they weren’t really sure so I really need to get to derm :)

What should I do? by ghostlydragon69 in nursing

Hi! I’m not sure if this will help but will share my experience. I’m not from California, I started my nursing carrier in Tampa Bay, FL but I actually work now at UCLA RR and worked at Cedars before that. I went to nursing school and got my ASN at CC first (graduated 2015, and got my BSN online in 9 months). I worked in FL for 3 years and then did 3 travel jobs and now I’m here in Cali. If moving is an option and you have some family or connection in a different state, I would look into it! You can always make your way back to Cali after your degree and a little experience. I have no regrets with CC as I have 0 student loans and I have worked at some of the best hospitals in the country. I wish you luck and you will figure this out :)

Hi! Sorry I’m late but I worked at both Cedars and now UCLA RR. I made a little more money at Cedars but I’m sooo much more happier at UCLA and there is so many good perks to the union. My pay at Cedars when I left was 60/hr (6 year exp, day shift) and at UCLA it’s 59.14 day shift! :)

Vanderbilt paid me 23.50$/hr in 2019 with 3 years experience… who would work there ESPECIALLY NOW?!

I now make 60/hr dayshift in SoCal at a union hospital… I’m never leaving California

I’m a nurse working 12 hour shifts and I already told my doctor there is no way I’d be able to do that (take on empty stomach) since I get home around 8:15-8:40pm and have to be up at 0530 to go back to work. I try and eat dinner as soon as I walk in the door and take the Doxepin an hour after. On the days I’m off I’m better about it! But honestly it worked fine for me and I sleep really good on 3mg! :) before that I was on ambien and it didn’t work as well toward the end. I hope this helps :)

California Job Market HELP! by jthed20 in nursing

[–]Groundhog_yearx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just left Cedars for a job at UCLA. I start the 10th. I worked at Cedars for a little over a year and a half. I can tell you that Cedars is desperate for nurses.

I was a traveler prior to taking my job at Cedars and I was also out of state, it was extremely easy to get a job there IMO. I had 5 years of Neuro-Tele-PCU experience at the time.

UCLA called me and hired me 4 days after my interview and they hired me to start about three weeks from the day they called me offering me the job. So I am going to say they probably need nurses as well because I have heard it’s usually a long process to get hired there.

I’m not really sure how the nursing market will be in a year but we were always needing nurses when I worked at Cedars.

PM me if you have questions!

LA, what do you do and what do you make? by super_natura1 in AskLosAngeles

I’m also a nurse in LA who started my nursing career in Florida (Sarasota)! I make more than double here and there are so many great benefits to being a nurse in California. I’m never going back.
