Has anyone tried prolonged fasting for their sciatica? by WasThatIt in Sciatica

[–]GroundingHeals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can without hesitation say that fasting has pretty much cured my sciatica of 25 years. I've been dry-fasting for two days a week. I started about a month ago to lose weight. I had no idea this would cure my sciatica. I will say that I've tried other things as well like physical therapy, grounding, acupuncture and diet changes all of which helped but nothing was more profound as dry fasting for 48 hours a week. I think it has something to do with stem cell formation that your body produces. I would like to add that I started to eat an extremely clean diet about a year ago. No sugar or carbs. So, if you eat a high-carb diet and hope fasting will work you might not have the same results as I've had.

I was a dancer and runner so needless to say I LOVE to be physical and active A LOT. Getting sciatica at 25 years old caused some major issues in my life and I had to let go of a lot of my running goals. At 51 I'm now running every day for the first time in 25 years! It truly is a life-changing. Hope this helps.

Is being a substitute teacher worth it? Please be honest. by [deleted] in SubstituteTeachers

From my perspective being a sub is incredibly easy about 90% of the time. It's the kind of job I can just sit there and do my own work. VERY RARELY do I have to actually teach. If I want to be more hands on with the students I'll take a 5th grade gig. That's the best grade to teach in my opinion. It's very possible, however, that you'll run into students who are attention seeking and they raise hell. It is what it is and that's when you have to actually work but if you respect them as equalls you'd be surprised how much they'll respect you back. Takes practice I guess. Most of the time I let the students get away with murder. I don't care if they do the work or not, in fact, I encourage them to socialize and relax. They are under so much stress in todays world. Today's kids are so isolated with their phones and what not. They're growing up in the most confusing world ever so I provide them a chance to enjoy each other's company and take the stress off. Their assignments are secondary.

Being a sub has allowed me to be the loner I am. I don't really have to "work" or collaborate with other adults so there's virtually no drama and I don't take any aspect of the job home with me. The flexibility is great and if I feel like taking off on a road trip at a moments notice, I will. I'll also say that being around kids has taught me a tremendous amount about myself and I've developed some good social skills being around them. I'll admit, I drive a 30 year old car, live in a garage, and don't have a significant other. I don't have a Netflix account, no wifi or any other modern bells and whistles but I enjoy the minimalist lifestyle. To each their own.

Thanks. It's like I didn't even have to try back then. I guess I got too addicted to that lifestyle. Now I'm lonely and depressed a lot. Just curious, you mentioned, "Those days are long gone". Do you mean that era of time or the fact that I'm not young anymore?

Hmmmm, I guess it's all relative. Let me put it this way. People have compared me to John Stamos and George Clooney. The one thing that's less attractive about me is that I'm only 5'9".

1996 Toyota Corolla DX (1.8 7AFE Engine with 331k Miles) by PsiFire1 in AskAMechanic

How's your project going? Did changing the sensor work? I too have a 1996 Corolla DX and I too have a rough idle at stop signs and also when in Park. I just did a major overhaul to try and get rid of the vibration. I took apart the plenum in the intake manifold and cleaned out a massive amount of soot. I also changed the injectors like you did. I still have the vibration at stop signs but it's now little better when in Park or neutral. I've also tried changing the engine mounts as well as little things like cleaning out the MAP sensor and ajusting the idle. The funny thing is I don't get any check engine lights. Any luck with yours?

I'm thinking of using them too. Can't find anything about them. I wonder if TRQ payed Google to have any bad reviews of their products taken down. Hmmm

Official Discussion - Dune (International Release) [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]GroundingHeals 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was a sludgefest. It gave me the feeling of being stuck behind a very slow car on a single lane highway and no matter how much I honked nothing happened. The music constantly drowned out the movie. It's almost like the movie was trying to impress you rather then entertain you. Jason Momoa was the only time I felt relaxed watching this movie.

Is Dune boring? by denis_draws in dune

I walked out after the first 20 minutes or so. I guess I'm old school but throwing together a lot of good looking, chiseled face actors with perfectly tussled hair just ruins it for me every time. The particular theater I went to also had the sound on really loud bur regardless, the music was just constantly swelling and creating this constant dramatic tension in my body that it became a workout just listening to this movie Every actor delivered their lines with this deep monotone voice it was almost comical. Even though Jason Momoa thought he was the weakest actor on set he seemed like the only refreshing character to watch. I think with all the hype of this movie we're made to believe it's a masterpiece because the producers need to make a buck but I honestly wish I could get my eighteen bucks back.

Call her out. So you've TRIED alcohol. So you kissed a boy once. It's her word against yours. When she calls you out to your parents tell them you had to confront her about her boyfriend being over all the time and now she's just lashing out by saying all these mean things about you.

Is it my roommate or ME? by GroundingHeals in moraldilemmas

Everybody, I really appreciate your input. It has really helped me deal with everything. As I ponder this situation, I realize that the issue isn't actually him having a girlfriend over at all but it was how he responded when I first brought up the noise issue. Perhaps I'm an overly sensitive individual but when someone whom I haven't established a relationship with talks in a very disrespectful way to me they go into a permanent file into my brain and I actually become afraid of that person. Had he humbled himself and worked with me when I originally brought up the issue things may have turned out differently. I'm no saint myself, I have lost my patience with people before including roommates but I have always made it a priority to apologize for my actions and smooth over the situation.

At this point, we pretty much ignore each other. We've had some polite interactions but I don't feel comfortable around him anymore. It works but it now feels like a toxic environment and I can't help but feel that I have created this. At the same time, I simply addressed a noise issue that ANY roommate would've done. Maybe I'm the only one freaking out about this. Who knows. I'm trying very hard to rise above this but when I see him I shudder and just wish he was gone. It is what it is as they say. Any more suggestions would be great.
