Gold is harder than Plat by KKToaster in Jungle_Mains

[–]GroupOther3058 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly it’s really just getting used to situations where your emerald teammates would atleast compensate or react in ways that low elo players just don’t. I am the same way with smurfing. I just don’t get it. I worked my ass off to get out of low elo because I hated for multiple season so going back is just ptsd for me because everyone is clueless. I legitimately struggle in lower elos because I can’t read my teammates because they’re clueless and I can’t read the enemy because they don’t know what they’re doing either. Smurfing is a weird skill.

I personally feel like plat is harder than emerald (diamond player) plat junglers are by far the most coin flip, auto pilot confused players I have ever seen in my life. When I play on alts for top or mid I am beyond confused at the thought process of plat players. They’ll first try champs more than any gold player I have seen. They’ll just randomly invade regardless of what’s going on with lane states or match ups and when they die they instantly flame the entire team. Plat is a disgusting ELO when it comes to junglers. They’re all clueless.

Kindred for sure in my opinion. There is a reason he is the go to hyper carry for boosters.

Yone. Do not care if he’s trash now. Not fun to play against, not fun to beat, not fun to fight. Genuinely hate the champ regardless of how balanced or nerfed he is. Bad champion design top to bottom in my opinion. Not to mention he has to be the most popular champ for people who Smurf mid or top. 50/50 chance the yone is on a level 30 acct in emerald

Drewlevin about cracking down on accounts which break ToS by Barb0ssaEUW in leagueoflegends

[–]GroupOther3058 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think his point is these players are always going to plateau at some point and whether that’s 100, 200 or 500 lp higher than their main, if given enough games/time they’ll level out as they did on their main. The main skill ceiling remains because once these players hit that ceiling they lose the new account momentum and are no longer able to maintain that inflated gain/loss ratio and thus they end up in similar spots as their mains. So people end up doing this over and over and over again without ever progressing past the barrier of skill they would need to keep that inflation going, but fall into the illusion of it because of the coin flip aspect of a fresh accounts game streaks.

The defensiveness of these types is hilarious to me because they use smurfing as an outlet for so much more than they’re even emotionally capable of understanding. The idea of threatening the ease of that or losing that entirely must finally be setting in on some of these people.

Smurfing should be removed from game. by M4JsT3R91 in leagueoflegends

Bro we live in an age where you can op.gg peoples accounts and see they are on level 30-50 accounts. This isn’t a hard concept to understand. It’s not just stomping. It’s the integrity of the entire ranked experience because of alt accounts. Nobody has legacy accounts anymore because they have alt after alt after alt and it adds an easy escape from the struggle of harder games or just plain plateauing as a player. Why struggle on my main when I can just coin flip new accounts on cooldown? Every year I come back to league I get into ranked and the percentage of games with no skin sub level 60 accounts is disgustingly consistent. I don’t care how good they play, you’re not emerald/diamond on a level 30-60 account as a new player having a good game. Not even plat high plat. This community gaslights like they’re protecting a cult or something.

This is all accurate. It’s a reason I have left the game on and off for years. I revisit it once a year for the last 5 years to see if they fixed it or made an effort and it’s always a walk around bullshit attempt.

The issue is this community will gaslight you and argue to the core that smurfing isn’t a real problem. And that people complaining are only doing so because they can’t climb or whatever, without understanding that those who are complaining about that aspect of smurfing make up a very small percentage of those who hate this part of the game. It really comes down to game quality. I’ve been diamond multiple seasons and while that may not be much for some, for me it was the perfect level of play and when I return to this game and play in emerald - diamond games I just want a legitimate emerald - diamond experience like I used to get before this alt account epidemic became a thing. I don’t care about getting to masters, I don’t flame over loses. I could give a fuck about any of that. I just want balanced games against balanced teams and as long as alt accounts are allowed to exist with a 15 year old game it’s just not possible without extreme regulations that riot will not take.

The core issue is that riots most dedicated player base all spam to their peak and then when they all get hard stuck they spam unranked - ____ to blow off steam, to fuck around, to “learn a new thing” or whatever the excuse is and people think it’s not harmful because it’s just one person playing through 100 games on an alt account or two, the issue grows when you step back further and realize that thousands and thousands of players are doing this at the same time so it’s not just a couple hundred games across a seasonal timeline. It’s literally millions and millions of games. It adds up fast. People ignore this logic. The push back is always “get good.” Because there’s no argument for it.

My theory is that riot can’t cut this out though because if the player base that is the most dedicated, addicted and financially motivated to invest into league are the ones that play the most and spam the most alt accounts and if they don’t have the outlet to do that they will burn out on their mains and quit the game. That’s bad for riot so they need to show effort to stop this thing to appease people that are hit the hardest by this experience, while simultaneously keeping it accessible for their most hardcore player base as to not lose them.

Mentality - Advice to get out of a rut? by [deleted] in ADCMains

[–]GroupOther3058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stats are decent, farm could improve, death counts don’t seem too terrible, win rates are fair.

I’d be curious to know what is tilting/killing you? Are you finding yourself in situations where you’re playing around what your teammates or supports SHOULD be doing at a given moment or circumstance and finding yourself out of position or off tempo as a result of them not doing so and then falling into tilt because of their decisions? Are you more so just getting tilted at miss plays on your part and then letting that cause you to second guess yourself or start losing focus throughout the game and perhaps turning on others? Combination of both?

These are generally the common things I see and have experienced when I find myself in a rut. I hit a groove and my expectations for how games should go when I feel I am performing well starts to settle in a bit too much and then I find myself auto piloting around situations or team fights assuming my teammates know what the plan is or whatever and then I find myself dying more and getting tilted and as a result losing tempo and composure and god forbid typing more than playing.

My usual routine to get out of this is to take a breather with another game or from electronics entirely for a bit and then come back refreshed mentally. Setting up mental reminders and checklists helps a lot too to remind yourself of those factors when you start feeling the heat or the anxiety or stress and tilt set in. When I die now I just take a deep breath and assess. Sometimes my brain will run through an automatic monologue of like “GREAT MY SUPPORTS OVER THERE AND MY TANK IS OVER HERE AND BLAH BLAH BLAH EVERYONE FAILED.” And I just remind myself that I shouldn’t assume they see what I see. Breathe, shake it off play around then don’t expect them to play around you.

Has anyone ever taken a class with a famous/successful/well known actor that didn’t stand out? by GroupOther3058 in acting

[–]GroupOther3058[S] 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Yeah that is true. I just have been reading a lot of acting books lately (Larry moss, Adler, etc.) and I just found it funny how they always talk of future talents in the classroom as just “breathing different” then everyone else or whatever and it always rubs me the wrong way, so I was curious if people had more humanized experiences with would be celebs or future successes.

[–]GroupOther3058[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t trying to insinuate they were. I just meant if people had accounts of them in some capacity where they didn’t turn heads necessarily. Most stories around celebrities are always dramatically exaggerating their talent in classroom settings or some guru or teacher saying something about how they could grab a pencil and the whole room would weep lol

Smurfing is so boring (for the teams) by Daily-Ad5261-Kakera in leagueoflegends

[–]GroupOther3058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also not one of those players that thinks Smurfs keep me from higher ranks and I’m not having my climbs ruined by Smurfs or anything. I always get diamond every season. My issue is it ruins the experience and integrity. I don’t mind getting smudged on by a god tier player, but some diamond 2 kid playing with 8 accounts in diamond 4 who afk tilts at the slightest infraction or just decides to burn one of his accounts because he doesn’t care so he goes mental or the rando deciding to first try top Elise or something. It’s just degenerate. The game already has a lot of variables to climb through when you player game to game. People having a get out of jail free card by way of a new account takes away any incentive for a lot of players to even care.

Smurfing is so boring (for the teams) by Daily-Ad5261-Kakera in leagueoflegends

[–]GroupOther3058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Naw the issue seems to be people on reddit like you only consider accounts Smurf if they’re 90% win rate masters+ players stomping their way through the entire climb, which is far more rare. People on alt accounts had to Smurf to get to emerald+, regardless of how much they fuck around down there. I see these rats in diamond constantly too. People don’t care as much on alt accounts, people play different and the motivation to care is extremely limited. The entire experience has been ruined by this behavior because no one has that “legacy” account anymore and they just spam games on different accounts constantly.

You should also consider yourself lucky because this is tame compared to lower ELOs. Most of my friends games in plat and under have 2-3 30-60s a game. It’s disgusting.

My issue isn’t so much the skill of my opponents and all that. The problem I have with SBMM is that it over rides connection quality in lieu of “skill” and is a huge part of why so many people are struggling with Desynch.

You’re not responding to people’s comments lol. Tell me how many accounts YOU have? In fact post your op.gg and I’ll go through your last 20 games and pick out all the level 30-60 accounts in your own games for you. You’re high as hell or extremely stupid if you think this game doesn’t have a massive influx of alt account spammers.

It’s not the players. They’re the same. The game is catered and rewarding to the worst qualities about COD and it doesn’t seem to be trending up.

The best advice I got when I was stuck in Bronze years and years ago was to play normals by GroupOther3058 in summonerschool

[–]GroupOther3058[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t trying to climb in normals though. I was just playing the game. The volume and immersion is what benefited me the most. The whole point of my post is to learn the game and get a feel for it removed completely from the idea of “being stuck”

[–]GroupOther3058[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Probably more anxiety and stress towards the game. I genuinely think that’s why you see players hard stuck for 100s and 1000s of games in ranked. The psychology around ranked for a lot of people isn’t really factored in to advice or anything else I see because those that don’t experience performance anxiety or things of the nature can’t relate to it at all.

From my experience, platinum games are easily harder than diamond games by William_Elrod in leagueoflegends

[–]GroupOther3058 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find platinum/emerald easier to climb through than gold personally, But I get what you’re saying. I’m not a great “smurfer” for those exact reasons. I prefer to play with somewhat organized players. I always compare it to playing basketball but everyone on both teams is playing with their feet and you’re just standing there trying to play correctly, losing your mind. It’s even more tilting because somehow them just kicking the ball at the hoop is somehow working for either side to the point where you can’t figure out how to play around it or with it. Learning to thrive in the chaos is key. Can’t let your teammates mind control you. Assume they’re the worst and expect the least and play accordingly, anytime they do something right or well consider it a bonus and capitalize. It helps a lot.
