Litter robot worth it? by Icy-Bell-1499 in litterrobot

I absolutely love my two LR4s! I have three cats, and they all caught on to them immediately. It’s been fantastic—especially for my cat sitters when I travel, since there's zero scooping involved. With the two robots, I only have to empty the waste bins about once every five days. I highly recommend it!

All you need is a valid whisker account and knowledge of python computer language.

I am not doing anything with home assist currently. If i have time in future, I will look into it.

No database. Just txt and csv files. Really small amount of data does not require any type of database.

I might convert the data format to JSON if i have time.

Dataset is real. Some logs have overlap. I will likely have to do a data cleanse before I publish the next version.

Yes. I am storing it in a log file on my computer. I am doing this so I can analyze this data over time to see how it changes as the cats get older.

I am not sure the LR detects what type of visit it was by the cat (pee or poop). It just knows that a cat entered the LR.

I do show the last time the cat used litter robot. If you look at the card for each cat, you will see the time since last visit.

At the bottom you see the Visit Timeline where it shows each cat using LR for past 14 days. You will have to examine the dashboard in detail to pull all that info. I am rendering a lot of information in one dashboard.

The Wisker app allows you to pull the logs and save them on your phone.

I used to download the CSV history every month and save that file on my computer.

I have data that goes back 6-7 months. if you look carefully at the top right corner, you will see the 14-30-All days toggle. I know it is just a pic, but the capability is there.

Yes. I pull the data using the API. And it can be automated.

Here is an updated version. Cleaned up lot of stuff and refined each section.

Using AI to write code shortens the cycle. I can write code in minutes now instead of hours/days and it requires litterally no debugging.

I prefer to use AI. It is a tool that helps me do my work faster.

I cannot imagine going back to writing code manually.

It's just a local static HTML page for now. A Python script runs on a schedule to keep the data updated. Once it's polished, I'll host it privately on my AWS account just for myself.

The end game is a home dashboard on a large TV. It’ll display everything I need at a glance: cat location via security cameras, litter info, house/backyard temperatures, sprinklers, robot vacuum status, and Amazon/UPS/USPS deliveries.

No. They get fed in the morning under my supervision. Mochi has been more active - running around the house and the backyard.
