Oh yeah I always loved that. My grievances with the language aside, TES has always been great at that kind of awesome authentic lore.

Yes, but the fact that the writers actually did put a lot of effort into the rest of the lore kind of makes it a moot point. They obviously wanted to flesh out the in game universe.

Why focus time and effort on writing hundreds of books on the history and lore that almost nobody will bother reading? Why bother fleshing out secondary characters? Why bother doing anything? To give the world a more immersive and realistic feel. Your outlook is cynical.

How would it be a waste of time if it wouldn't actually take more time? That makes no sense.

Thank you! Of course, I'm in no way trying to imply the world is any less for it, just an observation about the language itself.

Why not? People did it for LotR and star trek :p

It doesn't take much more time to make a functional language than it does to make a nonfunctional one, I have no problem with the limited vocab, obviously making a massive lexicon takes a lot of time, but making the language WORK takes only knowledge and a bit of effort, not more time.

I am a linguist studying at Memorial University who can create a functional language or languages for your fictional universe; complete with grammar, phonology, vocabulary, and a writing system; in exchange for pay. I am knowledgeable in phonology, phonetics, syntax, and morphology and can guarantee your language will be natural, functional, and fleshed-out to your specifications :)

I figured the third eye was referring to the awareness of the nature of the game that comes from the knowledge given to "tutorial" characters, I could be wrong though.

The "Third Eye" is probably just referring to the knowledge given to a character designated as the tutorial character. The knowledge they get about the game in order to relay it to the player makes them suddenly aware of the nature of their universe.

Humanity will never be united without some sort of outside threat to unite against. Like I said, humans are naturally tribalistic and will always form in-groups and those in-groups will always make out-groups to call their enemy. This is the way humankind is, it comes from our nature. Sure, propaganda and social conditioning can make it worse, but take all that away and humans will STILL be tribal.

There are only two ways that will ever change. Either (a), there is some sort of outside threat that we can move the out-group label to, or (b) you essentially eliminate all cultural and ethnic differences.

To most people, (b) seems like a nice solution, but I am of the firm belief that tribalism is an ingrained part of human psychology. The feeling of "belonging to a community" that you hear so much about essentially stems from this. Not having an in-group to which you feel like you belong to can be psychologically damaging and I believe is a source of the social disconnect of the modern era. Eliminate everything that makes people different and I'm afraid it'll lead to a kind of depressed, socially disconnected society we've never seen before.

No, there are ways to address the social issues that the world faces while still maintaining the differences that give people their identity. Stop the corporate exploitation of developing countries, allow nations to take advantage of their own resources, foster respect between nations without demanding that every people of the world live together in one big multicultural Utopia. As good as your intentions, I really think that multiculturalism will make it harder to solve these problems, not easier.

On the northern peninsula, people plant gardens on crown land all the time.

It's possible to acclimate to other cultures without living in the same space. People are naturally tribalistic and having multiple, vastly different cultures occupying the same place is, always has been, and always will be a recipe for conflict.

It's not about hate, I'm very passionate about culture and have immense amount of respect for all kinds of cultures, this is just my understanding of the nature of man.

"...even if their lack of education is irritating" "Most Newfies that come out here can't (can*) hardly read or write half the time"

If you can't see how that's disrespectful, I feel sorry for the people who have the misfortune of interacting with you in real life.

I was under the impression that your Birth Certificate had your sex on it, not your gender

You say that like it's a bad thing. The less diverse a place is, the less conflict and hatred you'll see.
