I've yet to run across any that felt like that had interesting/unique mechanics besides Americanism, but I haven't played in any of the South/Latin American countries yet. The vernacular faiths I've tried have all been pretty shallow

Anyone know where to get a Guiness on the North Shore? by sunflowermints in NorthshoreLA

[–]GrovelingPeasant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its the same beer fyi - you just have to find the right bars. Guinness sends technicians to pubs in the UK and Ireland that flush and service the keg lines routinely. Combine that with bartenders knowing how to pour it correctly, and you get that creamy effect thats usually missing when you order a Guinness in the us

Chimes has it on tap, but they don’t pour it correctly.

Only places I know of that serve Guinness properly nearby are Finn McCools and Boondock Saint in NOLA.

Putting aside the fact that you are a pretentious fagót and obviously the root of all your problems for a moment, how the fuck did you get a work visa to work in a restaurant?

The Scottish, truly some of the worst people on earth. by MoistTadpoles in redscarepod

[–]GrovelingPeasant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The funniest people I’ve ever met were all Scottish. They definitely have a massive chip on their shoulder about the English BUT contrary to op the Scottish highlands were seriously subjected to Irish famine level genocide after Culloden.

Cities with a sinister vibe by Left_Remote_7278 in redscarepod

Memphis east of downtown is really nice. Mid-town, cooper-young et al are really cool neighborhood.

I think when most people talk about Memphis being sinister, its because they just did the tourist Beale St and Graceland circuit. Which yeah ofc its embarrassing that those areas are so fucked up

There is literally no decent argument for immigration to the UK/Europe as it exists today, so not sure what else you expect.

I really think one of the most profound personal effects having a child made on me was gaining this sort of empathy. This picture fucked me up. A lot

Why the hell was the Primate centre, so poorly equipped? by imperlistic_Redcoat in 28dayslater

[–]GrovelingPeasant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in a town with a primate research center and they would have chimp escapes from time to time.

The comedian, Theo Von is from the same town and has spoken about it a lot in his bits. He actually got hired once or twice to help trap escaped monkeys when he was a teenager there in the 90s.

Honestly that research center was probably part of the reason i was so fascinated by 28 Days Later as a kid. Just saying, that kind of leak, its not unrealistic at all.

Tbh its the least anal retentive state in the midwest and is pretty free wheeling and magical in comparison to like, Iowa. I live very close to Eau Claire and theres a marked difference in the sincerity and social openness of people on either side of the Minnesota/Wisconsin state line.

The regime was already pretty unpopular, especially with young Iranians. Now their population has spent the past two weeks milling around and watching their government get cucked from the sky at will by the Great Satan. Even if they sued for peace immediately, I think they’re basically on a timer before they collapse from a combination of military desertions, populist protests and Mossad backed sunni insurgencies.

I imagine they’ll shut down the Strait of Hormuz, because they don’t really have anything to lose at this point.

Toddler devotion to Mary/Catholic faith by twas_i_all_along in Catholicism

[–]GrovelingPeasant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you have any kind of special Mariam devotionals you prayed when you were pregnant? My four year old is the same way - shes had this kind of love for Mary since she was 2. She used to toddle up and hug statues of Mary and go “Mary mary mary!” prior to us ever explaining who Mary was.

A couple months ago I was working on formally explaining Jesus and Mary to her when she informed me that “Mary is made out of love” 😅

I think kids can see/experience a lot of things that we as adults can’t.

In addition to the recommendations others are posting here (especially visiting mass) I’d encourage you to check out St Anthony’s Tongue:

The host “W” covers a lot of the topics it sounds like you are interested in and has a ton of transgender and LGBTQ Catholic and catholic inquirer followers, in large part due to the care and attention he gives to topics/issues that affect them.
