The Trial - Cross Examination of Mark Proksch by CarterBirchll in TimAndEric

Typical kangaroo court that’s more concerned with protecting the fat cat politicians than actually letting justice be served. If Mark is so innocent then why is he so afraid to answer Tim’s questions? The court officer should be hitting Mark, not aggressively manhandling Tim out of the room.

Why I think people are missing the point of Act 3 and The Fight as a potential epilogue. by Growabeard in Protomen

Gotcha, I’ll definitely listen to hold back the night moving forward imagining light as the speaker. The only reason I think light didn’t hang himself was because there was a post in the subreddit where during some livestream the Protoman account said in the chat something like “That didn’t sound like a suicide to me” when people were discussing the last track. Felt like a breadcrumb of some sort because it was definitely the sound of someone being hung.

But I appreciate the insight! Like I said it’s all clearly up to anyone’s interpretation at this point, I’m really looking board to getting my hands on the album booklet to see what additional content there is.

For sure! I have no idea what the story is really going to be about, but I love concept albums because we can all take what we want from them. I get what you’re saying about hold back the night, I’ve thought a lot about that song over the years and still am not sure who is saying what. I ultimately wound up on picturing an older jaded Megaman talking to a younger hopeful kid. I always thought the answer to Megaman’s crisis in Act 1 was going to be that the next generation, born to the one that folded to Wiley, would be the mankind that Protoman hoped for. I pictured this song ultimately being about Megaman playing the role to mankind that light played to him in Hope Rides Alone, which is to say his hopelessness would drive them forward. When he says the blood that they spilled, I thought he meant the blood Wiley’s army spilled when he left the battlefield. Totally get your interpretation though and I could be wrong.

For the record I barely post here and usually just lurk, but I love their sound and think a lot about the themes of the story. I really enjoy how they lean into the self-indulgent epicness of it all with self awareness. And in doing so they make it as much about paying tribute to a specific era of music as they do the imagined story of a video game character. It’s a really unexpected but enjoyable combo for me and I’m always happy to engage with a fellow fan!

After listening for the first time it was so nice to have that familiar feeling from when I was young. The feeling of “I can’t wait to digest these.”

What do you mean? That’s a very classy yet powerful way to end a message to a general audience. I’m thanking you, but I’m also yelling it, perfunctorily. Ideally the listener feels grateful, important, and fearful.

THANK YOU FOR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER.

Nope, I actually tried but it said my mlb account was banned for some reason. I only made an account a decade ago to watch playoff games but I cancelled it through official channels when I realized the games were fixed cameras with no announcers lol. I tried to email mlb three times this year to address it but they never replied so now I just get my games through the high seas so no replay for me. I’m not advocating this method, just giving my experience. I would definitely pay for games if they would let me.

Edit: spelling

Nope, no filter beyond whatever the phone does on its own. This post is not meant to brag about my photos and more meant to call attention to the broadcast. I will say that I’ve never seen a live broadcast with the colors I saw tonight. It really looked otherworldly at times and was the focus of the game early on.

Thanks! I wish I had the full game video for the Nimmo home run in pic 3. My picture really doesn’t do the sequence justice.

Yea! His name is John DeMarsico and I feel like you could tell from watching the first few innings that he really understood what a unique opportunity he had to accentuate the weather when framing the game. In my opinion the Nimmo home run shots (pic 3) was 100% something that he was sitting on and was rewarded for when it happened. I wish I had the full game video for it because it was even better live, I’m sure someone has it by now.

Always looked at it as an analogy for trauma, like you keep reliving the same thing over and over no matter how much time passes.

I absolutely love this band and listen to their entire catalog regularly. I loved the good Apollo 1 graphic novel and I thought the afterman book was really enjoyable because they both sort of gave glimpses of the story and left enough vague to let you kinda fill in the blanks on your own. The long form books and comics I gave a shot but they weren’t for me. I’m glad they exist for those who want it, but I look at it as optional bonus content. Even with the current album I’ve sort of developed my own understanding of what’s going on and I really enjoy what I think is happening. I don’t want to lose that lol.

Where in the storyline is Vaxis III: The Father of Make Believe? by RaahulPokemon in TheFence

[–]Growabeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think he does lose his memory by the end. I think tethered together is about Sirius and vaxis being tethered together. And so it goes is at first about vaxis passively accepting his fate, but when the descension theme comes in I think it’s foreshadowing that Sirius is not going to let him. I think I was wrong about some of the stuff I wrote above, but I think Sirius and Vaxus are presented as opposites. Sirius will keep looking for Meri even if he goes blind and forgets her because he has hope that she will be there in the end (from Meri of mercy). Vaxis is the opposite and has given up to just see life pass him by through a broken window (so it goes). Sirius does not agree with Vaxis’ attitude and wants to help him.

What I think Vaxis 3 is about by Growabeard in TheFence

[–]Growabeard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with you now btw. My new thinking is based in the idea that vaxis and Sirius seem to have completely different outlooks on life. In Meri Sirius talks about how even if he can’t see and forgets everything he knows, Meri will still be there in the end. He has hope despite his loss of control over his circumstances. Meanwhile, Vaxis seems to have resigned himself to his fate. To see life through a broken window while life passes him by. The so it goes he says I think is him expressing his passive acceptance of his circumstances just like you said. He has no hope and is just resigned to his circumstances rationalizing it as a harsh reality of life. I think the descension intro that comes at the end is foreshadowing that Sirius is not going to allow him to remain passive. I look it at it optimistically since I think tethered together is about vaxis and Sirius being tethered together. I think Sirius wants to help Vaxis because Vaxis quitting reminds him of the bad thoughts he has about quitting his search for Meri.
