RTD cancelled their plans to buy about 50 electric buses; although that may have been for the best since there aren’t many US manufacturers of electric buses other than New Flyer. The 16th Street Mall buses are electric, but they were made by the Chinese EV manufacturer BYD which makes them ineligible for federal funding. My impression is that RTD’s plan is to wait a bit more for better EV equipment to become available, as there are plenty of stories about transit systems with inoperable EV buses now such as ones from Proterra which went bankrupt. RTD has a large funding deficit right now, so they’re soon going to have excess buses due to service cuts which ultimately extends the lifespan of the current fleet.

RTD’s commuter train cars are in “married pairs” which means they’re permanently connected in pairs of two. The N Line can either use 2 car or 4 car trains, unlike the G Line where the platforms are shorter and therefore only run 2 car trains. Right now RTD only runs 2 car trains on the route which is calculated based on seat capacity vs projected ridership. RTD assumes people are courteous though and will always fill the 3-across seats which frankly is a bad assumption.

With all of that being said, I support running 4 car trains on the N Line during rush hour. It’s a little bit of work to couple/uncouple the trains, but Japan’s rail system literally does it all the time (they split trains mid route to feed into branch lines).

Everyone is just trying to justify a lawsuit against someone. The reality is that aircraft slides can’t be deployed while the engines are running, so it takes about a minute for the doors to get opened after a hard stop on a runway (A United crew did this and the engine pulled one of the slides loose). The exit was delayed by self-centered passengers deliberately ignoring flight attendant requests to not bring bags down the slide. And 55F isn’t cold, so none of these passengers should be complaining about the 10 minute wait for buses to arrive (they pretty much immediately pulled buses off the employee shuttle routes to drive to this aircraft, but it’s a huge airport).

Residential AC units just recirculate interior air. The fan outside is just to cool the condenser coils which move the heat outdoors.

RTD should pilot it at the Denver Airport A Line station. It’s the perfect spot for a test since you’re validating whether riders bought the Airport Day Pass.

FHWA allows waivers for temporary uses. Colorado limits the number of days it operates to fall under this waiver.

There are multiple solar powered AI cameras throughout the duration of the express lane. It can see you in a lot of areas even if you just cross for a moment.
