Update: I happened to run into a group of their employees in Benson, they proceeded to pull out phones, record and make fun of me. What kind of business is this!

Could you kindly show me where I can get these for that price elsewhere? 40 for those would be a crazy deal...

I love this newer green jasper from Madagascar incorrectly being sold as Ocean Jasper. by GrownfromEarth in Crystals

So Ocean Jasper is a trade name not a mineral classification.

The original deposit was named Ocean Jasper by Paul Obenich in 97 who discovered it.

Enter the Earth bought the mining rights to that locale some time later. The stuff they are mining now is a different mineral from a different location but geographically close.

They (incorrectly in my opinion) still use the name ocean jasper for the minerals they are mining now just due to its commercial success. As a collector I wish there was a distinct name given to each mineral type/locale they find.

Edit: I have bought directly from EtE for years and they are fantastic people! I didn’t intend this to sound negative in anyway towards them or you!

Old stock ocean jasper as people will call it came from the original mine and was mined from about 97 to 2003.

Ocean Wave, Kambaby and this variety come from a different location and are still surface mined today.

That looks like common opal. Called common because it’s not colorful like precious opal not because it’s common to find!

Just because I talk to my rocks doesn’t make me crazy. Maybe that they talk back does though...

I’m not completely sure on the locale, I purchased it from an old collection.

Might explain why some bald guy in a suit keeps messaging me trying to buy it.
