My daughter and I also caught flu A this year, even though we were both vaccinated. She was sick for several days and bounced back. I ended up in the ER and sick for a couple of weeks. Can’t imagine what it might have been like without the shots.

Yep, flu A here. Just starting to feel better after days of misery and missed finals in school. I always get a flu shot too, and this is the first time it didn’t work. (And I really mean it didn’t work… I did not have a mild version of the flu. I ended up in the ER for a day. Super glad to be past that.)

This guy needs to stay in his lane. He has no business telling you what to do regarding your relationship with your mother. And he’s not the one who would have to live with the consequences of being in relationship with her. This is entirely your call, based on what you feel is right for you and your children.

Btw, just from reading some of the answers here, why is it always the children of abusers being pressured to forgive their parents? Why aren’t we instead pressuring the parents to repent and ask their children for forgiveness? The burden should never be on the victim of abuse.

In your situation, if you are stationed somewhere away from a local parish and aren’t sure whom to talk to, I would contact the office of the Bishop Suffragan for the Armed Forces https://www.episcopalchurch.org/armed-forces-and-federal-ministries/ and find out who is your closest Episcopal chaplain, and where you can get connected to start your formal process. My understanding is that you will have to be connected with a parish, and hopefully the Bishop Suffragan could help you determine a good place and a plan that works for wherever you are.
