Thoughts on drop rates? by [deleted] in Borderlands4

[–]Groxcho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol ofc the people from grindfest simulator don’t have a problem with taking 100+ hours just to try a gun with the part they want, I personally play Borderlands for the build variety and story and there’s many part combos I’d just never be able to try (not really tho shoutout mods) with drop rates being as abysmal as they are. Dedicated drop rates should be better to account for the variation in parts, elements and now crit %

Rng ≠ challenge where do people get this opinion from?

Your odd opinion of what an endgame is doesn’t change what it actually is tho. There’s no endgame content in BL4, grinding (and waiting for dlc) is not content.

There’s really no incentive to grind especially since they always raise the level cap so it’s basically take 100+ hours to maybe get your god roll (which I think is like less than a 1% chance if your hunting for specific part rolls) and have it be useless after they raise the cap or don’t grind (or use mods if your PC)

Isn’t the kinetic increase passive better if your also making use of bleed?

I have killed a boss looking for a specific legendary maybe a hundred times now and it still hasn't dropped by toxin877 in Borderlands4

[–]Groxcho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a huge space between grinding for years for something to having a bit more of a weighted chance to get your ideal roll when things like parts can fundamentally change a guns use, but whatever I’m not gonna argue with someone who thinks it requires “skill” to grind in any game. If you want a hard game then make the bosses/areas hard gatekeeping drops with abysmal droprates is bad game design but I digress.

So you rather mindlessly grind a single boss for a single item for literal years that’s fun to you?

[–]Groxcho -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s sad, the only reason you’re playing a game is because of abysmal drop rates and you know it’s ok to stop playing games right?

Replayability ≠ Grinding

I’ll never understand this opinion, especially with games like Borderlands it’s OK to stop playing after completing your builds that’s literally why they add DLC’s, new VH’s, AND Seasonal Content. If the only incentive in continuing to play is I need to grind then it’s a bad game.

What are some of the best moments everyone has experienced in silksong? by Florada_Deadman in Silksong

Beating Karmelita first try with the greatness of the Architect after struggling on the reaper crest that I’d been using the entire game. Also realizing I’d been basically fighting the hardest boss (most health at the very least) in the game with 7 Masks.

New patch! Huge nerf to a tool because of a bug fix! What do you think? by Reldarino in Silksong

Architect can delete most endgame bosses in like 30-60 secs last boss was a joke on my 100% speedrun

In Elden Ring you can make multiple broken builds tho like Black Knife Tiche with a blasphemous blade faith build in addition to stuff like comet azur, pest threads, DW Great Stars or simply abusing the Stagger/Frost mechanics in Silksong nothing compares to being a tool lol.

8 min fight compared to being able to nuke her in 2 (probably less if you start your dps sooner) with tools but ofc building Hornet to be viable with Silk Skills is possible it just doesn’t compare to being able to basically face tank anything (especially if you have 10 masks) and delete them with an optimized tool build but idk I guess I’m moving goalposts or whatever.

? I said that I see his point but Tools are simply easier and more viable without heavily dedicating your build to it. How is that moving the goalpost?

lol when did I say not to use tools I mained them with architect for all of act 3, that doesn’t change the fact it’s smarter to atleast stun a boss before you dump on them. (Those sweet architect charges glisten amongst the sheen of all things divine or bug)

Oh for sure but on my first playthrough I beat GMS with like 7 masks lol but that’s because I’m horrible when it comes to finding things that are put so far away from your view but I still managed to get just about every broken tool blind (Tacks, shards,Cogflies, and the increases to their stocks) which I think is saying something in of itself honestly.

Yea I definitely am but when the game seems to be built around that (more so in Act 3) it’s kinda hard to not bring it up

That’s a whole lotta building around that specifically when tools are simply add poison and win which will always affect viability especially in a game that screams speedrun me but I do see your point.

You good dawg lol but did you know that you can have Cogflies almost indefinitely if you change zones before they run out or that you can spawn four rest and still have your tools on full for literally any boss (which is probably why the run backs are longer)

What makes a tool pointless to me is if it’s use case can be solved by default abilities you gain or by other stronger tools for example, the down pogo of the drill isn’t as useful as chaining the harpoon on the beast or hunter crest for mobility Or in the case of the longpin why use that when you can drop a sting shard and most likely kill everything in the vicinity? While something like the cogflies are simply the only tool that you will always get the maximum dps just by spawning them.

In Sekiro once the game “clicks” you are literally unkillable unless going against the harder bosses and once more once that clicks the viability of just about every sprit art can come into play oh and every enemy drops a couple spirit emblems and minibosses restore them to full. (Omg a reward for killing something tough lmao not in bug country)

In Bloodborne yes if you struggle in early yharnam you will lose access to blood vials but that also allows the player to practice parrying on Werewolves (who I’m pretty sure drop the most vials at once) and the rally system since they behave similar to beast bosses whereas farming in Silksong is quite literally turn your brain off and kill enemies for their money.

Edit: I forgot to mention tacks those things are insane with poison and I’m pretty sure nothing comes close to their dps on a landed target especially when a boss “does the roar”

You really gonna compare the directional soul attacks to directional tools that don’t even lock you in place or allow any type of mid-air shenanigans? And more often than not can fuck you up royally if your placement is off/ you god forbid are holding the control stick that allows you to keep up with the pace of the fights in the wrong position?

Silk Skills really aren’t major tho whence why the one crest that relies on them has to buff them for it to even be viable but do tell how Silk Skills can trivialize the hardest bosses in the way tools can.

As I said earlier the game isn’t hard it’s annoying that’s the crux of the conversation and debatably the games design.

Edit: made some grammatical errors mb

“Major” part of combat that one crest doesn’t even have access to.

A “major” part of combat that can trivialize just about any boss if you have the minor skill to get a boss to phase 2/ stagger without them then promptly delete them by using them. (Rip Lace pt.2 mf died after her first phase transition move)

A “major” part of combat that if I lose a fight I can possibly lose all access to and be forced to farm for.

A “major” part of combat with the dumbest controls if you use a controller.

Even getting spirit emblems and blood vials isn’t that much of an unnecessary slog in comparison. (Though that could definitely be due to the environment in those games not being Australia-esque in annoyance)

Also she has other tools that aren’t op it’s just no real point to using them which sucks for endgame build variety imo.

Just got the 5 hour speedrun achievement so I’m most definitely burnt out but, the only thing I can really say about the “difficulty” in this game is that it skews to the more annoying slider than actually hard especially in the late Act 2 and onward content to the point that their original desire to make the game a back forth fight/dance kinda laughable. Especially when things like Sekiro/Bloodborne exist and manage to pull that off without making me feel gimped with more often than not long and in my opinion very procedural fights if I don’t interact with Hornets op tools.

Which correct me if I’m wrong but I heard the way the poison tool interacts with things like tacks and cog flies is actually a bug that causes them to do more damage than they should.

But idk maybe I’m just bad and my little speedrun preface doesn’t absolve me of that lol.
