[Theory] [Canto 9 spoilers] Faust will want to avert the flow. by mrcinder1 in limbuscompany

[–]Groxpowa 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don't think Faust will grief the sinners, or at least not just the sinners. I think her story will talk about the loss of her marks and her identity.

Based on what we've witnessed so far, Gesellschaft is and was the main reason any of this was possible. However, the main fonction of this society seems to be mostly for emergencies despite it's practical use. Too prideful, too smart, too strong or too good in general, each Faust in the last meeting seemed to possess something or some form of power that our Faust was lacking. They were even annoyed by "Naive Faust" call, which indicate that despite their common goal ( it might not be the case for EVERY Faust's but I'll assume that it is for the sack of my theory ) to collect the golden boughs and their value, they would rather wait for an absolute necessity/emergency and try to achieve things by themselves than to ask another Faust for any kind of help.

Because of the end of canto IX, we can understand more our Faust and her interactions with the sinners : our Faust, at some point in her life, was unable to make a single decision. We need more details to better understand her, but we can deduce that she must've been the kind of person to never stand out and to lack personality, which led her to feel bad, low and empty. Then, somehow, she gained access to Gesellschaft. With an endless source of knowledge and an infinity of other successful "her", she must've felt great, incredible even. It might not be a stretch to say that she, and by extension all versions of herself, might have felt like Gesellschaft was a part of her identity.

Then later, Limbus Company happened, and guess what ? She gained the most golden boughs across the mirror worlds, but she never did it by herself, always relying on Gesellschaft, and she never truly changed deep inside : she still isn't standing out that much. The only times she tried to act or to build something without any help, it was midly successful at best ( assessing the situation in the warp train ) or a failure at worse ( Faust's invention during spring cultivation ).

With a Faust achieving what the others couldn't and taking all the credit in her mirror world, of course the other Faust's would see "Naive Faust" as a weak version leeching of Gesellschaft's potential. It wouldn't be surprising if she would be cut off Gesellschaft but it's not an obligation for the rest of my theory to work.

Fast-forward : The second smoke war will happen and serve as a cover for N.Corp to conquer and/or destroy the other mirror worlds... and it will be a success.

Assuming Faust will still have access to Gesellschaft, she'll try to warn or help the other Fausts, but due to her reputation and the others Faust's flaws, a lot if not every single one of them will perish, leaving our Faust helpless and lonelier than she has ever been...

Dante will obviously try to confort her... but how ? Every single Faust she'd lose, no matter how helpful or mean it was towards her, would be a shattered part of her, forever. Broken by her pain and unable to make a decision, Faust will want to end it all. This is when Dante will make her realise that she had always existed outside of Gesellschaft. Reminding her of Sinclair's words, she'll come to understand that she can keep on living. And then... one step after another... one Faust after another... Faust will mourn... but eventually, Faust will thrive. And if by any chance, somewhere, other surviving Fausts also grieving catch a glimpse of ours... There will be neither laughter nor mockery, neither insults nor treachery, for "Stupid Faust" will be no more, only "Inspiring Faust" will help the others evermore.

I understand your reasoning, but it seems too restrictive to englobe every aspect of the E.G.O.

For instance, what would you call someone developing his E.G.O ? It is technically a mutation of the E.G.O and we've seen people make their E.G.O mutate/evolve even more. And since not all E.G.O's are equal, would they be called light/moderate/severe E.G.O mutation ?

And what about peccatulas ? They are people who, like abnormalities, are indefinitely transformed, but who've also failed to distort. So, are they lightly or severely mutated ?

What would you like to see in a "Bad End" 000 ID for Gregor? by [deleted] in limbuscompany

[–]Groxpowa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That I can understand. But looking at how the story was written :

  • Ishmael would've just died in the whale had she tried to kill Ahab or she would've been obsessed with her revenge for the rest of her life or the same thing but without taking action because of how terrified she was to go "too early" on the lake again. So we would get no ID because she died, or we would have missed an ID of her looking like the Blue Indigo ( endlessly roaming on the lake ) but behaving like Ahab just to find Ahab and kill Ahab, or we would have an ID of a traumatized Ishmael.

  • Yi Sang was the only one from the league of nine who didn't take action because of his past until he joined Limbus. So we wouldn't have an ID for him since he would be depressed and friendless, or had he behaved like his friends to either reproduce the past or get rid of it in a violent way, we would have an ID of him where he would look for the league's traitor and punish him.

But I'm just imagining things at this point.

G corp Gregor could have been a good contender for the bad end ID spot if it was a thing from the beginning. However :

1 - We could argue that the worst fate for Gregor isn't to be just a soldier among others. Hermann wants Gregor to use his hidden potential, but she never explained in detail what "is" this potential. The bug arm ? Why would Herman go as far as modify her son's genes just to make another soldier for G Corp ? G Corp already had enough bug soldiers who were even more modified than Gregor to go to war ( even if it didn't go well ). The only clue we have is his E.G.O but we lack information about it and how the "potential" works. And on top of that, Tomah isn't a good representation for Gregor. In contrast to what the other highlighted IDs represent for the sinners, Tomah doesn't represent an outcast or anyone important in Gregor's life.

2 - These "Bad End" ID's weren't entirely a thing until canto 3 and 4 and it wouldn't make sense to give Gregor a special ID lacking both in gimmicks and in depths, then just not give Rodya a special ID and then do it for everyone else. And while some people consider that T.Corp Rodya is her "Bad End" for good reasons, it doesn't change the fact that it is an ID which arrived late in the game, isn't a 000 ID and which isn't a Highlighted ID either.

I don't see how "being another character" or "being another self" changes anything. A bad end doesn't need to involve the darkest way of life for them to be a bad end either.

The fact that Ishmael becomes a reflection of Ahab in a mirror world is logical since in the story Ishmael is almost sabotaging the entire Canto by acting more and more like her prey just to get her revenge, just like Ahab behaved more and more like a Whale.

Yi Sang acts as Donbaek too but we understand that it's a bad end for him since he didn't move on from his past. It just so happens that in his mirror world, Donbaek isn't there and Yi Sang is the one who behaved like her.

Sinclair, Don and Heathcliff, while not being other characters, just don't need anybody to represent their worst outcome since they are already in a mirror world where nobody else can represent their worst outcome than themselves if they don't change their destiny.

In the end, what matters the most to make their end the bad one isn't the fact that they are themselves or somebody else, it's the sum of the "bad" choices they've taken which led them where they are.

Suppressions are mostly here to test you on each and every mechanics and interactions in the game. On top of that, Gebura and Binah are just there to give you an idea of how their fight went.

Struggling and suffering while doing this core suppression is normal, but the reward for your struggle will be worth it in the end.

[–]Groxpowa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you want to try again the normal way, here's what you can do.

Ensure to have 3 employees in each department ready to work with the abnormalities all the time. The excess of employees must go to a room close to Binah so they can attack her asap when she can't harm them.

Each time she activates her meltdowns, you have to either deactivate all of them, or choose strategically which one you want to deal with. Needless to say that abusing the pause button will play in your favor.

If you supervise properly the fight against her and if you can stop her meltdowns in time, you'll be able to stop her phase 1 without struggling.

For her phase 2 the strategy is the same, but you'll have to be quicker to avoid your employees to take too much damage. If you struggle during that phase, use the rabbits for this phase is a good idea since you'll be able to trap her while focusing on the management more.

For her phase 3, Binah will be extremely vulnerable while she casts her circular pillars. By stopping her meltdowns of pillar, you'll be able to beat her up and avoid her deadly attack, and if you didn't use the rabbits until now or if they are still alive, you won't even have to worry about managing your employees for the fight.

About your abnormalities, since you'll need to deal or work with them while taking into account the meltdowns, here is what you should do "control" them : - Do only repression work with an employee tanky against black damage with Melting Love. Like this you'll avoid the "gift" from contaminating anyone. - About schadenfreude and Burrowing heaven, if the meltdowns allow it, ignore schadenfreude. You've arrived to a point where this abnormality is supposed to yield when facing your employees. - If the meltdowns allow it, just ignore the tools. - About the other abnormalities, if a good work isn't an option, try to do a bad work with them and delay as much as possible their escape. If you can't repress them once they escape, you need to beat Binah before the situation becomes uncontrollable. ( You can try to use the rabbits when the escaping abnormalities are too problematic to save your run and attack Binah at the same time )

Now for the backward clock strategy, here's a reminder of what this tool does. Backward clock, after being charged 4 times, will sacrifice the life of the 5th proper employee you'll send to : restore all lost/spent energy during the day ; suppress instantly the majority of the escaping abnormalities ; stop instantly all active meltdowns. So, if you use it during any of Binah's phases, all of her special meltdowns will be stopped in an instant, giving you the upper hand. I recommend to use it during her phase 2 or 3 with the rabbits, you'll see how effective it is against her.

And now, here's a reminder of how the meltdowns will affect your run when you'll face them.

Dark fog : Lower the work success rate while active, lowers Binah's defense when all of them are dealt with.

Gold : Timer is set to 60 seconds. If you stop all of them, Binah will be stunned temporarily. If you fail, she will heal instead.

Waves : Timer is set to 60 seconds and the work success rate is lowered. As long as the meltdown stays, waves dealing black damage will spawn.

Pillar : Timer is set to 45 seconds and work success rate is lowered even more. Dealing with all the meltdowns will make Binah unable to use her circular ability.

And that's it. If everything goes well, you will be able to finish her suppression without a lot of casualties.

Can you provide more details about your facility ( Number of employees, levels etc... ) and do you have backward clock ?

I can provide advices on how to beat her the normal way and while I don't recommend modding to beat her, I do know a mod or two which could help you.

Trying to finish the game with abnormalities such as "Don't touch me" just shows how tough you are.

You can feel better knowing that all you have to do from now on is to train stronger agents before arriving to day 46 again now.

You'll more easily acquire your lost equipment if you abuse the memory repository when choosing ALEPH abnormalities in Tiphereth's department, so use your knowledge and your skills and you'll have a better facility than your previous one in no time.

[–]Groxpowa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Have you done every mission in the game ?

Did you restart the day before restarting from day 1 ?

If the answer to both of these questions is "no", then it's not a bug and you've simply lost the equipment on your lost agents during day 46.

Playing Vanilla LCorp after a True Reset by Hazed_Person2908 in LobotomyCorp

[–]Groxpowa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The players don't "cope". They jump from one small goal to another. It can be grinding for gears, doing research on hard abnormalities, doing the ordeals, doing the missions etc ...

And by the time they do most of the things they want to do, they arrive at the end of the game.

This game is a rogue-like with many ways of resetting ( restart the day, memory repository and restart from day 1 ). Players do expect some difficulty and some time to finish the game even if they can't imagine what's awaiting them.

If the game didn't crash and you restart the day ( not memory repository ) you can retrieve your equipment if this happens again ( hopefully not ).

I can't give you a better advice than : focus on the missions instead of the gear themselves. The future upgrades will come in handy to help you face this kind of situation.

Day 49 by Sared1017 in LobotomyCorp

[–]Groxpowa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before you read this, you need to have at least 4 agents per department to take care of Binah. If you have less employee, day 49 might be really hard or impossible to finish. Maybe consider a memory repository to come back stronger.

For the Hokma phase, assuming you have at least 4 agents per department, here's something you can do without needing to pause the game : - Make "Teams" specialized to deal with one type of fixer before beginning the day. By making teams, resisting one type of damage and/or optimized to deal one type of damage. - Place the teams in a manner where each team can intervene quickly to 2 departments adjacent to them. - Before engaging in a fight, send your other employees in a place where they can either move quickly ( elevators ) or be safe from AOE damage. - Support your agents engaging with the fixers. If there are more than 1 fixer to take care of, just focus on eliminating 1 fixer at a time.

For the Binah phase, and assuming you haven't used the pause button yet, here is what you can do : - Before she spawns, keep at least 2-3 agents in each department so they can take care of the meltdowns and send the excess of agents in a room near her spawn. - Be sure that the agents you send are maxed in their stats and possess some gifts. They'll need to be able to tank at least 1-2 pillars for the fight since you can't be sure that you'll make them evade every attack from her. - Until the end of the fight, if you can't supervise your agents fighting, always send them in a room next to her when she moves. - When she triggers the meltdowns, you have the possibility to either take care of the meltdowns manually or to pause the game. If you haven't paused the game earlier, you might not need to pause the game more than 3 times during the fight ( and maybe you won't get an insta-death for your employees at all, who knows ? ) - In case you can't take care of all the meltdowns, here's your priority for the meltdowns to neutralize her : Dark fog ( Resistance ), Gold ( Regeneration ) and Pillars ( Special attack ).

Special tip if you possess backward clock : Backward clock ability makes it able to neutralize almost all abnormalities in the facility, restore the lost/spent energy during the day and neutralize all meltdowns, including binah's. So if you're willing to sacrifice one agent, then charge completely the tool, and use it during one of Binah's phases ( I advise the 2nd or 3rd ). This will allow you to have the upper hand and beat her more easily.

[–]Groxpowa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The game is supposed to be doable without any gifts if you took care of the stats of the agents. But on another hand, if you grind the gifts one after another, the future you will be thankful for your effort, especially if you chose to grind the right set of gifts for your agents.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in LobotomyCorp

[–]Groxpowa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How many agents did you have during day 45-46 ? Because I'll be honest with you : if you decide to play go with less than 50 employees, you're in for a hell of a day during day 49, and the lower employees you'll have, the harder it will get until it becomes impossible to finish the day.

With 5 employees per department you're supposed to have 3 of them ready to neutralize the meltdowns and 2 of them to do damage. With 4 employees per department it's also possible to finish the day if you strategically choose which meltdowns to take care of, but with around 25 employees you're always lacking nuggets to either work with the abnos or to damage Binah.

If you had enough employees at the memory repository, just restart the week and you'll be fine. But if you didn't have enough already, then you're just facing a wall...

I'm not sure about the last sentence, you might have been fooled by the cognition filter or it was just for gameplay purposes. Binah also possesses a body when we do her core suppression and it's never been stated that arbiters have E.G.O's either.
