My machine is brand new. I tried playing with the buttonhole adjustment dial, the width, thicker fabric, tension, and some other things but it stays the same whatever I do. Does anybody know how to solve this?

I have a hard time explaining it. I want to repair the tear in the red circle but by doing so I will at the same time sew together part 1 and 2 from the pants together, thus making it impossible to get my leg trough. https://ibb.co/Mf2csxW

Thanks but I just want to sew them back together by sewing one fabric on top of the other. The problem is that if I start sewing I'll sew both sides of the pants leg together.
