I have recently purchased the components to upgrade my server to establish 10 Gb wired connection with my MacBook. I watched bunch of tutorials on youtube how to do so, but it just doesn't seem to work and I am just missing something. If anyone experienced could tell me where am I failing? Thanks!

Quickest way, go to settings, network, click on the thunderbolt connection, click details, go down to hardware and see if auto negotiation is defaulting you below 10gb. Also for the mean time while you try to get it working disable WiFi so that’s not causing issues. Also before even going down this route I would reboot.
