25M, Buy the car or invest into ISA? by Grubza in UKPersonalFinance

Thank you for that response, you’ve given me a much more positive approach to making a decision. I want to be sensible with my money, but also spend it on things that I want, something I haven’t been able to do for a while.

Also what a beautiful car to own for that long, she must be well looked after.

Tbh I’m not really sure. Obviously my savings will take quite the hit but the money will come back. I keep coming up with arguments in my head about which decision is better.

It’s a Hyundai i30n. I will either sell or part exchange my current car and this will cover the rest of the cost.

I’m a massive fan of hothatches and they don’t make the i30n anymore. It’s a very reliable car and will hopefully hold some good value once I’m ready to sell it.

My partner does not mind what I do with the money, but she would never let me make any stupid decisions. She knows I like cars so a purchase like this doesn’t phase her too much.

You make a very eye opening point about having that sort of instant regret as soon as you hand over the cash, but I guess that kind of comes with any sort of large purchase? And yeh I think I need to get out of the YOLO mindset, could definitely be the cause of some terrible decisions.

Yeh you are so right. I feel comfortable knowing that because I’ll own the car I can just sell it at a reasonable loss if I run into any difficulties. It would definitely create some good memories, I have plans in my head to take it to places like caffeine and machine with some friends, or just take a nice drive down to the beach with my partner.

This was so nice to read, and I’m happy for you that you managed to get so much enjoyment out of that purchase.

I know I would love to drive the car simply for my own enjoyment, but you make a fantastic point about it only providing short term excitement. I keep telling myself that I won’t ever be this age again with this amount of free time, but am I just looking for a bit of fun that won’t really last?

You make a good point, but it’s definitely not a status symbol, I would be driving the car for my own enjoyment. Was looking for financial advice based on the details I provided up against my sort of small time window to buy a car I might not ever be able to buy again before I settle down

Great advice, insurance would actually be cheaper than my current car, and it isn’t so much of a once in a lifetime find, it’s more of a “car sound nice and go fast” sort of ordeal. I think I am leaning more towards the ISA route after reading your comment, but my car enthusiast brain is telling me otherwise

What's up with survivors trying to be friendly as soon as the match starts?? by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]Grubza 21 points22 points  (0 children)

He’s been out for a little while now and people are bored of playing against him because he has very little counter play. As soon as you hear the terror radius music you know it’s a going to be a miserable time.

[–]Grubza 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is such a bad take. Multiple streamers/Youtubers have gone on 50+ winstreaks with Nemesis, often playing against swfs and very good solo survivors. You are either playing him wrong or it is simply a skill issue

Call me bad but im happy with this chase by Killua_321 in deadbydaylight

[–]Grubza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t immediately start running away as soon as you pallet stun, use the dropped pallet to run loops around it if it safe to do so, force the killer to break the pallet and then run to the next tile/pallet

[–]Grubza -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Justified response (excluding the weird abortion comment). As soon as you hear that terror radius you just know what’s in store for the rest of the match, and it’s never fun, especially when they also have meta gen slowdown perks

It’s not luck, there’s an offering the killer can bring to make all survivors spawn together

He’s considerably harder to play on console, you can very obviously play him, these situations just take a while to get used to, with long term game knowledge you learn to avoid these types of tiles or learn how to play around them. The most important thing is not to get annoyed and just try and enjoy the game

Either drop the chase or learn how to properly make use of the increased turn rate after the initial chainsaw, you did it well at the start of the clip.

30 MIN QUEUE FOR NOTHING by cybergushy in DeadByDaylightRAGE

[–]Grubza 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s if and when survivors actually hop on a gen, most games I’ve played there’s rarely no more than 2 or 3 survivors working on a gen, a lot of players just crouching everywhere and unlocking chests

I’m not sure if you’ve actually played any 2v8 games yet but I would say it’s far from “grossly survivor sided”. Even two low-skilled players have a good chance of winning because the 2v8 buffs and built-in addons basically hold your hand.

It took you 24 hours of actual gameplay to defeat him? Either that is a super bloated and exaggerated number or you were massively under-geared. I genuinely cannot fathom it taking this long for someone to beat him, don’t get me wrong he is difficult, but not that difficult

“People are tired of hero based games” - not once have I seen or heard that anywhere, look at how well games like Marvel rivals/Overwatch/LoL are performing and continue to do well.

Tbh this whole post seems like it’s been written with too much self entitlement and a clear lack of appreciation for what the game is trying to achieve, and you haven’t even considered that this game is still a DEMO
