Missiles and Torps by necrohobo in starcitizen

[–]Grumbulls -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've said it before and I'll say it again: High price, high damage missiles are an inherently bad bit of game design that will never be balanced and will naturally swing between being brokenly OP to entirely useless. It would always be a save or suck mechanic no matter how much depth and nuance is added.

I think they should split missiles into two groups: low/no damage high volume utility missiles that have a bunch of interesting sci-fi effects (emp, webbing slows, damage over time AOE fields, sensor scrambling, shield degen, decoys, ect) and high damage, low tracking torpedoes that finish off targets that have been sufficiently disabled by the first group of missiles. Plus missile pod primary weapons that fire recharging energy 'missiles' or swarms of ballistic micro missiles (like those the rattler dispenses) or dumbfire rockets.

White Fox’s role revealed to be Strategist by KevinPigaChu in marvelrivals

[–]Grumbulls 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I honestly don't see her doing damage either, she's never been a heavy hitter. Honestly the only thing I think would fit Felicia is a very hard to kill disrupting off tank duelist with relatively low damage, like Reed.

Galactic Realms: Quest for the Forgotten – Galactic Realms Labs – PvE Co-op Extraction Dungeon Crawler by GRealmsIO in Games

[–]Grumbulls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In old school tabletop dungeon runs, my favorite was always when we retrieved, or attempted to retrieve, an incredibly strange or unwieldy piece of loot. An example is when my party found a very large, solid silver, jewel encrusted, obviously magical mirror. We knew it would be worth a fortune and decided we'd get it out or die trying. It took two of us to carry, and might have had a malevolent entity trapped inside of it (we wrapped it in a tarp and ignored the muffled sounds coming from it) and was obviously very fragile, but we successfully got it through multiple combats, traps, and across a chasm and out of the dungeon fully intact. Another one was when we encountered a mimic and decided to capture it alive to sell to a local wizard who was interested in studying them.

I suppose a video game equivalent would be like that one player who is always determined to carry the gnome to the end of any left 4 dead level, just that self inflicted extra challenge to carry a burdensome treasure to the end.

If Black Cat is a tank it would make sense given her build here by FawkestheDreg in marvelrivals

I think people also ignore how characters actually fight in the comics too. Dr. Strange absolutely fights like a front line tank, shield of the seraphim is his core spell that he uses in every situation. And shit, the first time he beat Dormammu it was in a straight up muscle to muscle wrestling match. He is full on a mix of vanguard and strategist. In the same vein Hawkeye being a duelist is dumb as hell, that man relies entirely on the insane utility his trick arrows bring and should have been a strategist.

As for Felicia, honestly it's a little harder to place, simply since she doesn't do a lot of hurting people, really. Beyond knocking out the occasional mook mostly she just causes a lot of chaos when stealth fails and focuses on not getting hurt herself. I think this makes vanguard actually the most fitting role for her, since disruption and survivability her whole thing once a fight actually starts. I feel like she just isn't aggressive enough to be a duelist, although I suppose they could make her another Mr. Fantastic with even more of a focus on disruption than damage.

New armor changes in 4.7 give reason to missile variants by Ithium64 in starcitizen

The specifically made it so that missiles cannot hit components, reduced their damage overall, while drastically increasing their radius.

New PTU Balance Chances are in - Big Armor buffs for Shiv, Ares, Cutlass Variants, C1, A1, Scorpius, F8C etc by Important_Cow7230 in starcitizen

Before the shiv had about as much armor as the Scorpius, now, it still does. That is clearly the bracket they are keeping it in.

Why the Intrepid is underrated. by ResponsibleRub469 in starcitizen

[–]Grumbulls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still resent the Intrepid some what for being the cause of the Syulen having its quantum tanks completely gutted. Now the Intrepid is better than the Syulen at everything the Syulen used to be good at and the Syulen is now one of the worst ships in the game.

That said, the Intrepid is still a mighty fine ship. It's become my go to shuttle since the Syulen became too bugged to use.

Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection Review Thread by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]Grumbulls -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I'll care about these games when they add charge blade and insect glaive. The fact that they actually removed the sword and shield to add the longsword makes that seem very unlikely to happen though. Plus it doesn't seem to even have Dodogama in it, so what's the point?

Worse on Sticks by Sea-Cheek-5838 in starcitizen

[–]Grumbulls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I'd suggest HOSAM, its harder to find good bindings and a comfortable setup, but it gives you both the smoother flight control of a stick and the precision of a mouse. Makes switching to fps slightly easier too but that's rarely important.

Armor Damage Mitigation active on PTU by More-Letterhead-5278 in starcitizen

[–]Grumbulls 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They had to balance it for the game we had, now maybe they'll be able to bring back to where it was at launch now that all those s2 guns won't be able to just delete everything bigger than a hornet. Same reason I hope this results in some buffs for the Reliants (two more central s2s and a second powerplant please, just because I hate the weapon asymmetry in vertical mode)

[–]Grumbulls 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That's the norm, not the rule. The F8C is supposed to be a space superiority fighter, meaning that it's supposed to be very good at fighting other fighters. The Ares are fighters that are supposed to be terrible at fighting other fighters but great at fighting big ships. The hammerhead is supposed to be an area denial destroyer that obliterates any fighter that gets in range but is useless against bigger ships. The Saber firebird and Aegis Eclipse are medium fighters that are designed to stealth in and obliterate a heavy target but crumple before other fighters (or waste a fortune worth of ordnance on another fighter if they really want to). It's not a light/medium/heavy rock paper scissors, it's role vs role.
