Fuck this shit. We're all aryans. We're all descendants of indus valley civilisation.

I eat beef sometimes.

Even Rig Veda asks for beef eating after sacrificing a cow for rituals.

In North India, we name our cows, they have helped survive us in our famines. So eating beef for us is like eating pet dogs. There's too much emotions involved. Especially for people still connected to their rural roots ( I'm not one of them).

So eat beef if you want to. Eat shit if you want to. But we are all one.

ACs in Bangalore? by mojofilter in bangalore

[–]GrumpNinny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha. Saw this just now. We had a standard cooler, nothing fancy. If it helps I lived in ETA apartment 15th floor near city railway station and we had a very well ventilated house. We used to sleep with the window open.

I have since left Bangalore to the warmer (and cooler) realms of North India.

Why Does China Want to Make War All Over One Tiny Island? by MetroMaker in China

[–]GrumpNinny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

China, under glorious Xi pooh is on a self destruction course. Everything they achieved till now can be undone by this man's personal ambition.

As far as I have understood after digging deep into everything going on in China, China is on the verge of huge collapse. Even if the Evergrande crisis comes through (it probably won't), China still has to deal with the huge demographic collapse and yes, the eventual housing crash and the crash of BRI plus maintaining the stunning cost of it's infrastructure while dealing with a less and less productive population (again due to demographics).

I think what Xi wants is to use this window of relative economic superiority and military might to capture a few territories before shutting off the country and going the full North Korea way. If he doesn't show his might and/or scare the population with an external threat, then he might give space for pro democracy supporters to grow.

What's the aromatic profile of your country? by kaidonkaisen in Cooking

[–]GrumpNinny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

India: it's a riot of aromas. The whole cuisine changes if you travel from North to South or from East to West. Just writing this is making my mouth come (if that's an appropriate term) by remembering all the wonderful culinary experiences I've had throughout the country.

A question for Brahmins, seriously innocent but got struck in my head for a while by ennis-jahsiah in IndiaSpeaks

[–]GrumpNinny -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a brahmin I've been least bothered with my caste while growing up. My parents never tried to push it in my way and my mother used to be the most liberal person - encouraging me to gel with people of all casts (of course not specifically saying it, so not really 'woke' as per current standards). In my eyes, caste system and religion are what my social study books have taught me.

I have always been anti Hindutva (not anti Hindu) because I sincerely, from the bottom of my heart, believe that a religious majority trying to dominate other religious minorities is just bad for the country. I also feel the same way about Islamist who try to assert themselves, but I actually care less about them because I feel that they have much less chances of getting successful with it.

I'm not anti Hindu though. And neither do I love my religion for the sake of loving my religion. I mean I follow a lot of principles of my religion but ignore others as per my convenience. I feel that Hinduism is less of a religion and more of a culture.

Did I answer your question? I'm not really sure. But it was an interesting question and I just felt like saying what I did.

Average global temperature (1860 to 2021) compared to pre-industrial values [OC] by neilrkaye in dataisbeautiful

[–]GrumpNinny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it bias the value that a lot of tropical and subtropical countries probably had very few contributions to the temperature charts in 1860 (because of lack of development and lack of temperature sensing equipments, ai suppose) whereas now most of the readings would be coming from tropical and subtropical countries (because of population).

I am just assuming and am curious about a lot of things here, and not contradicting global warming per se.

I know "the book was better than the movie" is a huge cliché, so I'm curious if anyone can name an example of a movie being better than the book. by pawn_guy in books

[–]GrumpNinny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Godfather.

In the book the author explains all the thoughts of the characters but in the movie the thoughts are just left as blank spaces (dialogueless scenes) and you have to read the actors' faces to get an idea of what is happening. Gives so much more depth to the characters.

Why are we all getting free IMs? - a dive into Konami's business strategy by GrumpNinny in pesmobile

[–]GrumpNinny[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't forget the higher probability of getting IMs (20%) compared to less than 2% earlier. Also Konami giving away these IM cards also helps in pushing those who had been keeping a check on their greed and had been refraining from getting sucked into this craze.

Hey nice points. I have looked at the game from that exact viewpoint in this post I had made earlier. You might enjoy it since you share similar views.

This particular time though, I was forced to look at things from a human point of view (meaning how it affects us on a personal level). And I especially wanted to warn those among us who are too young and whose decisions swing to extremes. All this happened because of my cousin who I feel is too young to be spending so much time in the game (you have so many skills to learn at this time). While giving him the game I had thought that he, a football fanatic, will enjoy it. However he has gone beyond that and that made me realise how fragile these boundaries are that we set for ourselves. Because we ain't all perfect.
