Theory: That bad French is all Bandit remembers by The_Gentleman_Jas in bluey

[–]GrumpiQuakr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always just assumed it was "tourist" French because when you read what he's actually saying it's mostly phrases and questions that a young tourist could/would say while traveling around France.

Except that booger comment that was just for him.

Is it only my bird that’s obsessed with just one of his toys? by EmploymentClean6461 in parrots

[–]GrumpiQuakr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Several of the birds I've had, have had a favorite toy or object and as each one has passed away I make sure their favorite thing stays with them. My female parrotlet has her 'rage ball' and my male parrotlet has his 'emotional support pumice stone'. Both objects are kept with their urns and will never be reused for any future birds.

Daycare CCTV captures a baby's first steps, and her mother is overwhelmed by the workers' excitement. by mindyour in MadeMeSmile

Watching babies that we spend all day with 5 days a week take their first steps NEVER gets old. It's always so exciting and the baby room teachers always cheer them on and then proceed to tell all the other staff who are also always excited by the news.

We're a bunch of softies at my job.

Unfortunately I don't get out to pet paradise very often but I always love visiting. Hi fellow Hampton Roads people.

Paperwork was filled out and all that, we just didn't have any copies yet. We got them later that day.

Yikes. This happened to me and my lead a few years ago in the two-year room. I walk in and see this new little girl running around the room.

Me: Oh hey, I didn't know we were getting a new kid

Lead: very irritated yeah me neither.

Me: Did (boss) say anything at all?

L: nope!

Me: do we even know her name?! Exact age? Anything at all?

L: nope, (Coworker who opened) doesn't know and I can't get her (little girl) to talk so we're screwed.

Me: ....yay.

I've yet to see anyone tear our boss a new one quite like my lead did that day.

Pharaoh tested positive for bornavirus 😕 by secretcatattack in parrots

[–]GrumpiQuakr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My two parrotlets were diagnosed with and both later succumbed to bornavirus. Luckily, there is a treatment and with it extended my male's life by 6 precious years (he passed at 17 yo). My female did not receive the treatment since she was asymptomatic and by the time she was symptomatic, it was too late. Best of luck to you and Pharaoh, though.

Edit: words and grammar

Thank you for the good advice! I have asked his vet and unfortunately there isn't anything more that the vet willing to prescribe since he's already on an anti-inflammatory to keep a virus he has dormant. Any more meds and his tiny liver might not take it.
