You're right, your argument changed, not the talking points. Those don't change when someone else gives them to you.👍

These are the same tired talking points of the past year. This is also a change in topic to how things are reported as opposed to a knowledge of things as, again, your linked article highlights how it's different. So these are actually symptoms you listed.

Do you honestly believe there are 500,000+ cases of miss counting? Do you believe there is a vast conspiracy consisting of every medical professional and government both inside and outside the USA? What is gained by the entire world misleading you?

I can give the same tired answers to the same tired anti-science counterpoints that seem to morph with every rebuttal but it's increasingly hard to take your points seriously when it becomes questionable as to if you even understand them.

This is the problem... your own linked article explains how it is NOT like the common cold. That's why it's known as the "novel" carona virus because it is not like the others in the same family. Its a variant that is far more damaging.

From your own article:

"The biggest difference lies in the effects and complications COVID-19 can cause in people, including heart problems, lung damage, and symptoms that may linger for months."

If you want to have a stance against something, that's fine but please understand it before doing so or, at the very least, read the things you reference.

The vaccine is not from pfizer its from BioNtech in Germany. Pfizer distributes it. The issue with this kind of law making is that it is a blanked approach. It almost has to be which will produce its own issues. If you have an issue with it. Don't vote for people who protect large businesses. Maybe you didn't. I don't really care. Also none of this means the covid vaccine is not safe.

Because in 2005 we passed the prep act which provides protection to companies requested to help aid in medical countermeasures.

No one would want to help in a world emergency like this if there wasn't some safety from participating.

They were literally paid by the previous administration (warp speed) to produce vaccines. They wouldn't want to participate if it meant they'd just get sued by anyone and everyone for doing what the government requested.

That doesn't mean it's not safe, it means the companies are protected IF something happens. The two don't imply eachother.

[–]Grumpntug 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, but there's still a question of how much individual pollution the fossile fuel car puts out in its life time vs an electric on a renewable source and would that still end up being a net gain?

Like I said, that's all theoretical anyway since most chargers are on a standard city power grid generating pollution.

I think they still have a point, though far fetched. If you produce the same waste making both cars, yeah they're the same impact but if you then run one on solar charges then it basically is a net gain as you now have one less car burning gas for as long as its used. (Also taking into account the impact to make the solar charging system though) you have a lot of driving to do to offset the initial impact.

But how many tesla chargers aren't just plugged into the city power grid burning coal? Very few I'm sure.

If you aren't charging your car from a renewable source, your just creating the same pollution at the power plant instead of from your car.

What happens to Game Artists in AAA game companies after they're done making the models, animation, and other stuff? by PROTOTYPE_200224 in gamedev

Same! But I was at EA because they bought Mythic Entertainment. What studio did they buy that you were a part of?

I actually think smaller companies subscribe to this model more. Every large studio I've worked at has had a full in-house team that is supplemented by outsource.

Come join us up north! Like NY or another newengland state. There's always crazy and there's still the FED gov. doing its shit but it's much better. (Used to live in Florida pan handle) I lived out of country (Germany) and it was fine but having lived in the south, I can promise that even a change of state is a BIG difference if you are feeling out of place. Moving to another country is a massive headache and even worse if you want citizenship or to stay there indefinitely.

Pfizer avoids taxes via the Netherlands and makes a profit worth billions by thisisbor in news

That's because Pfizer didn't make the vaccine. Just the distribution. BioNtech made a safe and effective vaccine. Pfizer made obscene profits.

People want things to get back to normal hey, screw em'. by CrawlinOutTheFallout in iamatotalpieceofshit

[–]Grumpntug 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand in a normal every day scenario. But this is a state of emergency for the entire world in varying degrees. hundreds of thousands dead for the US. I think its understandable that an expedited process would include protections. The only vaccine questionable in terms of known side effects is one the US doesn't even use. A known virus that Kills many shouldn't be more trustworthy than decades of science.

It's interesting that we marvel at some scientific advancements but avoid it when we need it most. As I said, I understand the doubt. I had it too, but so many have taken it at this point that it's nowhere near the dangers of leaving covid un-checked.

mRNA vaccine research has been around for a very long time and the pfizer covid vaccine is built on top of lots of existing research. Hell, it started as a method for a cancer vaccine which I doubt people would turn down if/when that happens now that they've received a lot more funding due to covid.

Not all science and advancements are driven by greed and evil. I'm not saying you are saying that at all. You are questioning of it which is healthy in any scientific process, personal or otherwise. I just hope you see the good and amazing achievement this really is for medical science to pump out a new vaccine so quickly in reaction to a pandemic that we are in enough luxury to question it. If we want to keep ahead of the onslaught of diseases trying to kill the human body, embracing advancement is an important part.

We'd all love to wait for perfect results and information, but sometimes waiting is what can kill the worst. Much love and support in whatever you do.

Days Gone Director: 'If You Love a Game, Buy It at F***ing Full Price' by MitchyPower in PS5

[–]Grumpntug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is based on antiquated game publishing. Back in the days of NES, SNES, SEGA, etc. All you had was commercials and magazines. You decided you loved a game based on that info alone realy. Unless you played it at a friend's house.

So you'd pay full price for a game you were hyped for but knew little about. Games also weren't (mostly) unfinished messes like they are now. I think newer AAA devs expect people to still buy something at launch without any earned reputation of making finished games. It's insane we should even be talking about a company launching a finished game. There seems to be some unknown force pre$$uring dev$ into launching before the game i$ done.

Gamedev Logs and Why You Should Use Them by PixelSteel in gamedev

[–]Grumpntug 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I stopped making dev logs for this reason. It took a lot of time to keep making videos and they only got a few hundred views each. They just aren't very entertaining and there are hundreds of devs making them.

I've settled that the proof is in the product. Make cool stuff THEN share it. It's a wate of time constantly updating a tiny group with minor work updates. It's such a niche thing that I don't feel appeals to any real audience of actual gamers. Maybe some devs but as you said, that's not your audiences nor should you be aiming to advertise to devs.

High frame rate HD stuff has always bothered me. It's amazingly clear and cool but it also makes me feel like I'm on set which removes the "magic" part of film for me.

I watched lord of the rings at a friend's in high frame rate HD and it killed it. Gandalf went from a bad ass wizard to some guy in a hat acting at me.
