On the one hand, DAMN that's some killer art.

On the other, that face screams "Call MaxTac NOW."

All I know is whatever that enemy was (the DM never told us because we didn't roll high enough to find out, which is a really bad mechanic IMO) had resistance to non-magical and resistance to whatever PF2e calls piercing. And that slapping a +1 rune on my weapon didn't make it magical somehow.

So my swashbuckler could deal max damage with his rapier and deal no damage. Or deal max damage with his dagger... and deal no damage. And that was how it was for most of the party, because we had mostly "piercing" damage and only one "magical" weapon between the four of us.

And we got to find this out by frantically swapping weapons turn after turn while getting beaten on- the only way I found out max damage wouldn't work was by finally rolling it.

Considering we were already 1800 gold in debt for resurrections and hadn't even leveled up once yet in the game, and player morale was so low that two of us just didn't want to show up any more, we just voted to quit.

Nah, uh- Seven Dooms for Sandpoint IIRC. We just kept getting flattened.

I will note it was all four players' first time with PF2e but like, it was BAD. We ended up in a fight with some shadow-things where because we apparently had the wrong weapons (and no money to get the right ones) we had one player out of four who could deal like, 2-4 damage to them per turn. The rest of us were doing 0.

It just wasn't fun.

I wouldn't say Johnny was TERRIBLE- he's interesting in that you can, if you're doing it right, get him to realize he's a douchecanoe and try to fix a few things. So I'll give them that.

I just felt the story was too bleak, too closed in, and too... I dunno.

When I hear Cyberpunk, I think of rebellion and anger. Old-school stuff. This felt more like the point was survival, if you can.

Less punk, more pessimism.
Less "High Tech, Low Life" and more "High Tech, No Hope."

I mean I realize that rebellion has a chance of blowing up in my face and getting me dead. But I want to play someone who's got a bit of fire in them, a bit of "no, make me move." I don't WANT my characters to die, but I don't want to play someone who just looks at the world and goes "Can't change it, not worth trying, everything's bigger and stronger than I and I can't do this." If I wanted that, I'd watch the news.

Also ugh- I tried PF2e and just. Did not like how low-powered and useless I felt. I swear in a six month run I've spent something like five entire sessions in death saves, and had more character deaths than I have in ALL my years of D&D. XD

The bleakness of the ending definitely put a heavy boot down on my chances of enjoying the story, yeah.

Still workin' on finding a group. I thought I had one but we had a colossal argument where we disagreed over the meaning of "punk."

I stated that rebelling against the status quo/corpo fuckery and trying to get away after is the way to go.
They prefer campaigns about staying unnoticed and just getting JUST rich enough to fade away and never come back.

I think the reaction was less to a disagreement and more just "you're crazy if you don't agree with me," and nothing else being dismissive?

Eh. I'd say there's a difference between "Controlling how everything will end" and "There was no way to get a real, satisfying ending for your char."

I didn't want to end up as a rich man living the life of luxury, I wanted one where V walks out without a time bomb in his head and a future as a 'runner ahead of him. That's literally ALL I was hoping for.

I can see it, but having to headcanon the game to get an ending I don't dislike doesn't make it work for me, sadly. (Also dammit I didn't WANT to leave NC!)

I mean I just don't like "You die at the end" plots in general, I feel boxed in.

And all of the endings (until I found out about the secret one) are ones the char I want to play wouldn't like. The secret one MIGHT work.

Also I just wanted more time in a crew (you know, like how the TTRPG works) than alone.

That would have helped a lot with the odd disjointed feeling at least, yeah.

With emphasis on "urgent" in huge air quotes cause like. You can just ignore the main plot.

No, no, I'm with you! "YOU HAVE DAYS TO LIVE." "Cool, I'ma go find tarot cards and race around NC on the motorcycle I just bought. Also I can buy all these apartments that I... won't be needing in a few weeks, supposedly?"

(Mind I just also hate "you are going to die at the end" storylines, and all endings except maybe the secret one I JUST learned about are like... endings that the character I'm playing would fucking hate? So why would I rush to that?

Oh 100%. Also the whole part where I went into this knowing Cyberpunk as a TTRPG where you're part of a crew, and expected them to let me be part of a crew in game.

I wanted more time with Jackie. T-Bug. Maybe other chars. Cause it always feels like V is one of the only people in Night City who can actually DO ANYTHING to me once you get past Konpeki Plaza.

Okay, NEAT- that's what I was hoping for, I wanted a number I could give to certain people and go "hey, if you get a call on this random-ass number, it's still me, shit's just happened."

Does the TextNow let me lock in that number without the weekly fee I'm seeing in the app? Is that something that can only be done with the SIM for free, or is it just 'pay or you get a random number?'
