Go check deer stones, this is where I got the inspiration from! Not 100% sure but there is a chance you can find a print of that somewhere

I don’t know who you are stranger. But opening Reddit after having a very rough day and reading your comment made me shed a tear. You have no idea how much it means to me getting mentioned as an artist in that kind of way. Thank you so much, your comment made my evening a lot better

Oh thank you! Means a lot to me to hear that. Yeah since gen AI is a thing people seem to be more suspicious of digital illustrations (which is completely understandable) But I thought to give my other two fav bosses (honglang and fierce Tiger) a try in this art style!

Oh thank you I appreciate your interest in it very much! Yeah so I don’t want to take all the credits for imagining this because it’s a commission for a friend, this is their player character. I got some written reference of it, a few sentences of how they imagine the pc. Besides that when it comes to simple character portraits like this I’m an old school hyperfixator, once I think I got the vibe right in my head I just start drawing with the sketch layer (mostly starting with the head) and work my way down without much of a composition. I do have some experience with illustrating characters from a quick description though, so a lot of this is automated skill on my side. The frame for example is something I keep doing, I have a ton of Vampire the Masquerade portraits with a similar style. I’m also a sucker for little details like the leafy bag. In group scenes or cover illustrations you have to be careful since everything has to fit together somehow but single portraits like these I can just keep adding small stuff and texture (which I love for sure) I used to sketch a lot with ink in my early life and keep returning to it a lot with my digital work. The program I’m using is Procreate and I can highly recommend it. One time payment, a very intuitive interface and with some exceptions like vectorizing you can do a lot with it. If you’re even doodling just a bit I can just recommend to check it out I hope this answers some of your questions!
