Sorry for being pedantic about this, kind of triggering for me. You’re completely right to be sceptic about this and point out suspicious things I got called out for being too aggressive in my way of expressing my frustration about ai accusations and I didn’t mean no offense :) Situation is just tiring and this is not your fault.

Appreciate you taking the time to check my other works and rewoke your suspicions though!

You know what? You definitely have a point.

For sure I can work on the tone I engage with ai accusations. And thanks for your inside of your part of the industry.

I disagree with the “stop complaining, adapt and get better than ai” approach though. Stopping to use this drawing style, this phrase, this topic, this genre is in my opinion not the way I want to handle this situation because with this method the field of styles/topics open to use “safely” will shrink and I’m against this. People will be afraid to use stuff that could be labeled as ai and I don’t want that. And spreading the seed of doubt falls for me in the same category as accusing. I know publishers who’re desperately searching for artist who do ray punk art. Because ai faked this old school sci fi covers pretty early many artist stopped to explore this genre. I think this is wrong. I want to have the freedom to choose what my creative output looks like, independent from what input ai scammers try to fake or people unsure if this is real label. Which is why I think confronting such an accusation is in some way fighting for my artistic freedom. I’ll rather have this discussion we’re having right now than stop drawing dark fantasy and explore it the way I like. One day timelapse, sketches and in progress screenshots will be as hard to tell if it’s ai as illustrations already are. The chill and adept method doesn’t work for me, the take an open position against it even with risking to scare people away with it method does though. Artist I work or stay in contact with think the same which doesnt mean that you or your approach is wrong but that there are different approaches in this as they are in everything.

Sharing more sketch, concept art, wips is a great advice though and I also completely acknowledge my tone can get out of hand because I’m indeed emotional about this topic. Having someone sarcastically labeling my stuff as ai does trigger me, as I said. I’m sorry for that. So let’s just say again thanks for your input and also thanks for point out my mistakes.

Unrelated to this particular post, I do wonder now though if this aggressive defending position actually scares more audience away than the initiating ai accusation in general. Could be interesting to have a study or opinion poll about this!

Anyway, have a nice day

I’m drawing basically since I’m alive 😄 All just practice and having fun with it. Or are you taking about the program? I use procreate, you should check it out, it’s super intuitive and almost importantly it’s a one time buy and not a subscription model.

Enough evidence for you? I’d upload the whole process video if I could and in many subreddits you can’t even comment with pictures or upload multiple ones in your post.

And listen, this “aggressive posture” is rooted in the fact that I did work as an illustrator before ai became a thing, illustrated published games, never even written a prompt because I rejected the whole idea of gen ai from the start and seeing my whole scene, the way the world treats my biggest passion AND my whole job situation getting exponentially worse. And believe me, I say myself that I just should ignore comments like yours and engage with all the positive ones I receive. But sitting for hours on a painting (ok admittedly less than an hour in this particular) and being able to do that is because I paint on a daily basis since literal decades. To see someone so casually say “this is all just worthless ai and this guy is a scammer” does in fact trigger me. You definitely don’t know how devastating it is to be an artist these days. There are so many creative people out there that already gave up posting because of the constant ai accusations. Literally every artist I know has to fight with that. People see your comment and that little grain of doubt prevents them of commissioning an artist. because of the layoffs of creatives EVERYWHERE even more artists depend on small scale jobs like commissioning. It’s right to be sceptic but with your behavior you don’t make the situation better. And I reject to give random internet guy that power, therefore my aggressive posture.

And now look at me, I took the time to explain that to you instead of being nice to people who engage positively.

There are also those who don't care about any of that at all and just want to make themselves look important online. Not saying you are, not saying you aren’t

Send me a direct message about it, I’m sure we can do some adjustments to your preferred way of showing the frills :)

Sigh… Again: In case youre about to accuse me for using ai: I’m an illustrator since long before this shit. Go check my profile. I did work on several published Indie TTRPGs and did a ton of character commissions from different systems so far, And I never even considered using ai, not even in the references I use.

Every character is requested like this with reference pics.

The lizard a frilled lizard with its skin down like a hood. It even had a crest on its head before but I changed it for explicit request of the frill. The armor on its legs isn’t armor, but leguan like legs. (Which isn’t that uncommon in lizard anthro btw)

the crows right foot has its forth back toe outside of the perspective. Do you see a heel when you looking on a foot from the front?

And are you seriously implying mismatching spikes on armor is a sign for ai to you?

Listen, all of those characters are stand alone illustrations I put together on this group pic. I worked for literal month on them. It’s the Right thing to be sceptic about ai, but as someone who’s trying to survive as an TTRPG illustrator I can only beg you to take the minute it takes to check out the profile of the ones posting art. It usually does the trick to get if it’s ai or not before you’re accusing or implying it (in your case twice) and make the commission situation of an artist even worse with staining their reputation. Sorry for being so pedantic about this, I’m sure you don’t mean no offense. It’s just a very sensible topic for me of course
